Exploring Diverse Learning Opportunities for Children Outside School: Outcome Presentation



In an effort to promote the unique characteristics and traits of each child attending non-traditional education settings such as free schools, a comprehensive research project focusing on diverse learning experiences for children outside traditional schools has been initiated for the fiscal year. This initiative aims to enhance the growth and support mechanisms for children, drawing insights from their interests and curiosities.

Event Announcement


We are excited to announce the outcome presentation for this research project, scheduled for May 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Tokyo Metropolitan Hall in Shinjuku, Tokyo. This presentation will feature:

1. Outcome Reports from Participating Labs
Reports will be presented by universities, including:
- Kodomo Education Hosei University
- Teikyo Heisei University
- Tokyo Gakugei University
- Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School
- Meisei University

2. Expert Evaluations
Notable experts will provide their insights, including:
- Masaya Iwanaga (President of Open University of Japan)
- Tomotaka Segawa (Director of the accredited NPO Katari-ba)

Media Inquiries and Coverage Requests


For those interested in covering the event:
  • - Please follow the guidelines outlined below for media applications.
  • - Due to limited space, we may need to restrict the number of equipment allowed: one video camera per network, one still camera per company, and one reporter per organization.

Coverage Registration Details


  • - Timing: Registration for media coverage will be available from 9:30 AM to 9:50 AM.
  • - Location: Registration will be conducted at the main entrance of the Tokyo Metropolitan Hall.
  • - It is mandatory for reporters to wear their company identification during coverage.
  • - Please adhere to the order of arrival for getting spots for still and video cameras.

Additional Guidelines


  • - Access to areas outside the media route is strictly forbidden.
  • - Flash photography and capturing images of attendees are discouraged.
  • - No camera stands, power outlets, or audio equipment will be available on-site.
  • - The use of tripods or ladders may not be allowed due to space constraints.
  • - Journalists are expected to follow staff instructions. Non-compliance may lead to denial of coverage.
  • - An official camera crew will be present at the event.
  • - There are no parking facilities available at the venue.
  • - We request cooperation in preventing the visibility of the general public in media captures.
  • - Further instructions will be provided on the event day.
