HCLTech's Strategic Acquisition of HPE's Telco Solutions Business
In a significant move to enhance its position in the telecommunications sector, HCLTech, a leading global technology company, has signed an agreement to acquire the Telco Solutions business of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). This acquisition aims to broaden HCLTech's offerings in engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud-native solutions for communication service providers (CSPs) around the globe.
Expanding Market Leadership
This acquisition follows HCLTech's previous transaction with HPE in 2024, which laid the groundwork for this new partnership. By acquiring HPE's Telco Solutions, HCLTech will gain access to valuable intellectual property (IP), product development capabilities, and established customer relationships with top-tier CSPs. Currently, the Telco Solutions platform supports over one billion devices across more than 200 implementations worldwide, providing critical solutions focused on Operations Support Systems (OSS), Home Subscriber Server (HSS), and 5G Subscriber Data Management (SDM), accompanied by advanced AI-driven closed-loop network automation for seamless network monetization.
Before this acquisition, Telco Solutions was integrated within the Communications Technology Group (CTG) of HPE, from which HCLTech previously acquired specific assets. The CTG portfolio, which encompasses Business Support Systems (BSS), network applications, service cloudification, and data intelligence, has been successfully integrated into HCLTech's operations and is now on a growth trajectory.
Driving Network Transformation
With these enhanced capabilities, HCLTech is poised to lead the charge in network transformation, focusing on Network as a Service (NaaS) and AI-driven autonomous networks. This acquisition will bring nearly 1,500 engineers and telecommunications specialists from 39 countries into HCLTech’s global delivery team, further augmenting its capacity to serve this ever-evolving market segment.
Anil Ganjoo, Chief Growth Officer and Global Head of Telecom, Media, Publishing, and Technology (TMT) at HCLTech, expressed enthusiasm regarding the new opportunities presented by this acquisition. He stated, "HCLTech is uniquely positioned to assist CSPs in their transition into genuine technology companies, thereby propelling the shift from traditional telecommunications firms towards tech-centered businesses." Ganjoo also highlighted how integrating this highly skilled HPE team will bolster HCLTech’s product-oriented model, expediting the alignment towards higher-value, IP-driven services and fostering non-linear growth.
In agreement, Rami Rahim, Executive Vice President, President and General Manager of Networking at HPE, remarked on HCLTech’s compelling vision in supporting CSPs. He emphasized how leveraging the Telco Solutions business will enhance innovation and customer impact in this vital market sector through focused strategies and an enduring commitment to innovation.
Anticipated Completion and Financial Overview
This transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other usual closing conditions, with an estimated completion timeframe of around six months. As a global technology powerhouse, HCLTech boasts over 226,600 employees across 60 countries and a consolidated revenue of $14.2 billion as of September 2025. The company provides cutting-edge services in AI, digital engineering, cloud computing, and software across various industries, including financial services, manufacturing, life sciences, telecommunications, and consumer goods.
