KFC U.S. Appoints Melissa Cash as Chief Marketing Officer
In a significant move aimed at revitalizing its brand, KFC U.S. has announced the appointment of Melissa Cash as its new Chief Marketing Officer, effective September 16, 2025. Reporting directly to Catherine Tan-Gillespie, the brand's President who recently served as CMO, Cash is set to be the driving force behind KFC's modern marketing strategies. This initiative is part of the larger Kentucky Fried Comeback Plan aimed at reinforcing the brand's position in the highly competitive fast-food market.
Cash is renowned for her expertise in strategic brand development and digital customer engagement, having over 20 years of experience in the quick-service restaurant sector, including notable roles at Wingstop and Wendy's. She was recognized as one of Ad Age's Top 50 Women in Advertising, a testament to her talent in the marketing field. In her previous role as Senior Vice President and Chief Brand Officer at Wingstop, she successfully spearheaded initiatives that significantly increased revenue and brand visibility.
Expressing her enthusiasm for joining KFC, Cash stated, "KFC is one of the world's most iconic brands, and I'm energized by the opportunity to unlock its next chapter of relevance and growth in the U.S." She emphasized her commitment to creating distinctive marketing strategies that resonate culturally and strengthen KFC's status as America's favorite fried chicken brand.
Melissa Cash’s appointment is part of a broader leadership strategy at KFC, which recently saw Francis 'Rico' Arrastia named the Chief Digital Technology Officer. Arrastia brings 27 years of technology and digital marketing experience from brands like Levi Strauss & Co. and Walmart Global eCommerce, where he was instrumental in enhancing customer experience through technology. His role will focus on modernizing KFC's digital interactions with consumers, thereby making the ordering and engagement processes more personalized and efficient.
Additionally, Tiffany Furman has been appointed as the Chief Growth Officer. Furman joins KFC after 17 years with Yum! Brands and will focus on aligning finance and growth strategies under a shared growth agenda. Meanwhile, Sarah Crow has also recently joined as the Chief Legal Officer, having spent years in franchise and development roles across various Yum! Brands entities.
Tan-Gillespie believes that the newly restructured leadership team possesses the skill and determination necessary to place KFC back in the cultural conversation and sharpen its competitive edge. She stated, "We've assembled a powerhouse leadership team with the talent and firepower to usher KFC into its next chapter. Together, we're set to put KFC back in the cultural spotlight and ignite a major U.S. comeback."
KFC Corporation, based in Plano, Texas, has built a legacy around its unique Original Recipe® fried chicken and continues to innovate in menu offerings with a commitment to quality and flavor. With Cash at the helm of its marketing strategies, KFC aims not only to strengthen its brand relevance but also to engage a new generation of customers and enhance its overall market performance.
The Kentucky Fried Comeback Plan signifies KFC's ambition to adapt to changing consumer preferences and competitive dynamics while ensuring that it remains a beloved choice for fried chicken lovers across the United States. With a talented leadership team driving forward with a clear vision, KFC is prepared to reclaim its position as a leader in the fast-food industry, resonating strongly with both loyal customers and newcomers alike.
