Creating Markets through International Standards: The BRIDGE Symposium on March 18, 2026
The Cabinet Office of Japan is organizing the "Standard BRIDGE Symposium" which is part of the "BRIDGE" program aimed at connecting research and development to Society 5.0. This event will share insights from the "Standard Utilization Acceleration Support Project" (Standard BRIDGE Project) and is open to both in-person and online participants at no cost.
Background of the Symposium
In recent years, international standards have evolved beyond mere technical specifications to become strategic tools that can influence market formation and industrial competitiveness. The Standard BRIDGE Project aims to connect research outcomes with social implementation, enhance the competitiveness of Japanese firms through international standardization, and facilitate the creation of new markets. After five years of operation, numerous achievements and insights have accumulated from various projects. This symposium will share these findings and foster discussions on:

- - Public-private collaboration in rule formation
- - Strategies to enhance competitiveness in international markets
Highlights of the Symposium

Keynote Address on International Standardization: Experts will explain the significance of international standardization and social implementation from the perspective of the 7th Science and Technology Innovation Basic Plan.

- Open and closed strategy concerning foundational common research and development
