BE OPEN Art Celebrates Artist of the Year 2025 and Community Fund Achievements
On January 19, 2026, BE OPEN Art proudly announced its Artist of the Year for 2025: Anastazie Anderson, a talented Czech-British artist known for her unique ability to intertwine various forms of visual storytelling. The announcement took place in Lugano, Switzerland, shedding light on the significance of youthful talent in the art community as well as the impact of the BE OPEN Community Support Fund.
For the past six years, BE OPEN Art has sought to elevate emerging artists by inviting the public to vote for their favorite from a selection of 20 showcased artists each month. Anderson, whose intricate and emotionally resonates canvases often draw from personal experiences, social media, and cinematic influences, captivated audiences with her distinct voice. Her artworks create a space where memory and imagination converge, reflecting a deep sense of familiarity infused with surreal elements.
Elena Baturina, the founder of BE OPEN, expressed her admiration for Anderson's work, remarking on its emotional resonance and vivid simplicity that transcends generations. "It speaks to my childhood as well, and I am thrilled to support such promising talent,” Baturina affirmed.
In addition to the prestigious title, Anderson will receive a financial award of €1,000. Furthermore, Rio Skor, an architect-turned-sculptor based in Montreal, was recognized as Baturina's personal favorite for the year and awarded €500 for her advancements in marble sculpture—a medium she refined during her studies in Carrara, Italy.
The announcement also highlighted the success of the BE OPEN Community Support Fund. Established in January 2024, this fund has gathered over €3,500 to facilitate a supportive network between artists and collectors. For the second time, the total will be distributed among twelve monthly winners, including this year's honorees: Amal Al-Nakhala from Gaza, Wouter van Wessel from the Netherlands, and multiple recipients from around the globe including countries like Pakistan, Canada, and Nigeria.
These initiatives reinforce BE OPEN Art's commitment to not only celebrate talented creators but also foster a community that encourages collaboration and interaction in the art world. Through these communal efforts, BE OPEN Art aims to enhance the discourse and visibility of contemporary art, providing artists with opportunities to connect with audiences and influence their lives.
Overall, the event emblemizes the power of art to bridge gaps and connect diverse cultures. As BE OPEN Art continues to evolve, it remains dedicated to its mission of supporting and elevating artists, ensuring their voices are heard in a bustling global marketplace.
