Discover the Fusion of Nature and Art at the Asama International Photo Festival 2026

Immerse Yourself in the Asama International Photo Festival 2026

The Asama International Photo Festival 2026 is set to take place from August 1 to September 27, 2026, in the beautiful surroundings of MMoP, a cultural complex located in the serene town of Miyota, Nagano Prefecture. This unique festival merges the breathtaking natural beauty of the Asama foothills with outstanding photography, creating one of Japan's largest outdoor art events. With the theme "After the Image," the festival will provide an extraordinary sensory experience that connects visitors with the evocative power of photography.

The Festival's Essence

Initiated in 2018 with a vision to promote photographic culture worldwide, the Asama International Photo Festival aims to showcase exceptional works from both domestic and international photographers in harmony with nature. Attendees can expect to see astonishingly large photos and intriguingly unconventional pieces that inspire a rethinking of traditional perceptions of photography. It invites participants to not only observe the artwork but also engage with it on a deeper, experiential level.

This year, the festival's key visual has been created by Danish photographer and filmmaker Henriette Sabroe Evensen, known for her innovative work exploring the intersection of art and science. Her piece, "Growing Up," embodies the festival’s aim to encourage contemplation of the relationship between images and the world beyond.

Experience the MIYOTA COFFEE WEEKEND

In conjunction with the festival, the MIYOTA COFFEE WEEKEND will be held on September 26 and 27, 2026, showcasing the rich culture of coffee from various regions. This spin-off event of the popular Nagano Coffee Festival will take place at the main venue, allowing visitors to savor delicious, locally roasted coffee while enjoying the art and the stunning natural landscape.
