Meiho Engineering Transforms Ginza Commercial Building into Luxury Residence
Meiho Engineering, part of the Meiho Enterprise Group and based in Meguro, Tokyo, has officially announced the completion of its ambitious project to fully renovate the Ginza SLC Building. This project, which is scheduled to complete on October 18, 2025, marks a significant shift from commercial space to high-end urban residence, reflecting the growing demand for luxurious living in the heart of Tokyo.
Responding to Global Demands with Urban Renovations
In recent years, the declining yen and the resurgence of inbound demand have sparked a renewed interest among wealthy overseas buyers in Japanese real estate. In response to this trend, a request was issued by an overseas owner residing in Thailand to convert the commercial building into a private residence. Meiho Engineering took on this task, transforming an existing commercial property into a valuable living space that meets diverse lifestyles, both domestic and international.
This innovative project not only aims to create a luxurious urban residence but also adopts structural and facility specifications that allow the space to easily accommodate potential future uses as a hotel or rental housing. This adaptability contributes to the preservation and enhancement of the property’s asset value.
During the selection process, Meiho Engineering's designs and cost-efficiency stood out compared to other firms, leading the owner to entrust the entire project from planning to execution to this experienced company.
Uniquely Crafted Interiors: The Concept of 'Urban Luxe'
Tokyo's Ginza, known as one of the “world’s standard cities” alongside New York, Paris, and London, is a hub of international culture, fine dining, and fashion. Capitalizing on this prestigious location, Meiho Engineering adopted the design theme of 'Urban Luxe,' emphasizing sophistication and tranquility.
The building’s exterior retains its existing lattice design while enhancing the sense of quality, and each floor features distinct interior designs—1st floor as the living area, while floors 2 through 4 are designated as bedrooms. The interiors are finished in warm materials and colors that evoke a hotel-like atmosphere while remaining inviting. Extensive consultations with the owner allowed for the creation of a uniquely personalized living space that mirrors the client's lifestyle. Special attention was also given to comfort, evidenced by the installation of a Western-style toilet with hand shower facilities on the third floor.
This full renovation marks Meiho Engineering's first large-scale project, transitioning from their previous focus on smaller residential renewals. As they continue to engage in the revitalization of existing buildings, they aim to create new urban value and address the evolving lifestyle and investment demands.
