Gathering of Nearly 500 Leaders to Rekindle America's Connection with Scripture

A Landmark Gathering: America Reads the Bible

In a groundbreaking initiative, nearly 500 leaders from across the United States are uniting to promote the critical engagement of the Bible within the American community. From April 18 to 25, 2026, Washington, D.C. will host this remarkable week-long event called 'America Reads the Bible,' which is organized as part of a collective effort led by Bunni Pounds, founder of Christians Engaged.

This gathering will take place at the Museum of the Bible and aims to emphasize the importance of Scripture in individual lives and the nation’s history. The event is specially timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the United States, marking a significant juncture for reflection and spiritual revival.

Origins of the Movement

The inspiration for the event stems from a heartfelt moment at the Museum of the Bible in 2024, where Bunni Pounds felt compelled to initiate a public appeal for Bible reading and discipleship. With a vision to see leaders across the nation openly express their dependence on the Word of God, the initiative has transformed into a nationwide movement encouraging both engagement with Scripture and unity among diverse communities.

Each day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST, various leaders representing ministries, government, and academia will read passages from the Bible live or via video. Notable figures such as Candace Cameron Bure and Franklin Graham are among those slated to participate.
