His foray into the rotating sushi industry began in 1984, and he established Kurazushi Co. in 1995, which later rebranded as Kurazushi in 2019. Tanaka's dedication to upholding Japan's food culture and providing safe meals without the use of artificial additives is at the core of Kurazushi's philosophy.
Kurazushi distinguishes itself by prioritizing customer health and offering a menu free from chemical seasonings, artificial sweeteners, synthetic colors, and preservatives. The brand operates in Japan, the United States, and Taiwan, making its mark in international markets while adhering to its commitment to food safety and quality.
Insights from the Jury
Chairman Yoshio Fujimori commented on the selection process, emphasizing the robust aspirations and visions demonstrated by the 12 candidates. This year's awards also introduced a new category for 'Master & Family Business Leaders,' recognizing the unique challenges facing family businesses. Fujimori expressed his hope that this year would see Japan finally achieve a world-class recognition, as no Japanese entrepreneur has yet secured the top spot in the past 25 years of the EOY awards.
Tanaka's Vision for the Future
In his acceptance speech, Tanaka stated, "The essence of corporate management lies in the 'concept' we uphold. Our mission is to preserve Japanese culinary traditions and provide natural, safe meals to our customers. Companies should produce values that society can be proud of, rather than merely pursuing profits." Tanaka's personal commitment to product integrity is evident in his routine of tasting new products himself to ensure authenticity and quality.
He also remarked on Japan's cultural values, emphasizing the importance of creating social value. Tanaka sees his mission as delivering Japan's rich values to the world through sincere and ethical business practices, continuously striving to remain a responsible leader.
