KONOIKE Group has officially initiated its "AI Utilization Project," aimed at radically transforming operational processes through digitalization and data utilization. The project, spearheaded by KONOIKE Transport's ICT Promotion Headquarters, seeks to address labor shortages and improve working conditions, all while enhancing both productivity and employee well-being. Launching in December 2024, the initiative will include the development of infrastructure and AI governance frameworks to create a solid foundation for AI tool utilization.
Background and Objectives
The project was conceived as a response to the pressing need for efficiency in business operations. By leveraging AI capabilities, KONOIKE Group aims to not only optimize workflows but also actively improve employee experience and satisfaction. Ensuring a structured framework for employing AI tools is vital for this ambitious initiative. Initial steps include a comprehensive analysis of AI needs, the selection and deployment of AI tools, and fostering AI talent within the organization.
Overview of the Project
1. Establishing the AI Utilization Foundation
- - A secure development environment has been created on in-house cloud systems, facilitating the company-wide use of generative AI.
- - Enhancements to the AI governance structure have been undertaken, incorporating the latest insights and standards, with plans to join the AI Governance Association by June 2025.
- - Guidelines tailored to the specific needs for AI utilization have been formulated.
2. Conducting AI Training
- - Training programs targeting all KONOIKE Group employees, including executives, are being implemented to promote AI literacy and engagement with these new technologies.
3. Launching the Ambassador Program
- - A hands-on educational approach will foster the growth of AI talent within the company, empowering designated “AI Ambassadors” to champion the integration of AI tools at their workplaces.
4. Individual Use Case Development
- - Initial projects focusing on automating standard document creation and developing an FAQ chatbot for corporate departments have already been initiated to demonstrate the practical benefits of AI.
External AI Training for Executives
The project is also set to include external training tailored for executives, enhancing their understanding and ability to leverage AI resources effectively.

He stated, "Generative AI holds the possibility to fundamentally change how we conduct business. In light of its rapid advancement, we initiated the AI Utilization Project in December 2024, aiming to tackle labor shortages and boost productivity while focusing on governance and ethical considerations. Future Directions
KONOIKE Group's focus on its Ambassador Program aims to create a self-sustaining cycle of AI utilization, with internal teams at the forefront of advancing the generative AI ecosystem while strengthening governance measures. The group has set ambitious goals to develop over 12 use cases utilizing AI by the end of the fiscal year ending in March 2028.
