Founded by pioneer fashion designer
Toshiko Yamawaki in 1929, Yamawaki Art School has been delivering a practical, design-oriented curriculum for over 96 years. The institution, now a three-year vocational school, comprises three departments: Visual Design, Space Design, and Jewelry Design. The school's philosophy embodies the spirit of beauty and creativity, striving to cultivate highly perceptive professionals ready for the workforce. With small class sizes and a curriculum structured in three stages—foundation, application, and practical implementation—students, regardless of their prior knowledge of design, acquire the essential skills to thrive in their careers. Recently, in March 2024, the school received accreditation as a Vocational Practical Specialty Course by the Minister of Education, supporting its mission to advance design expression and enhance communication in the community.
