Costa Rica's PROCOMER Showcases Investment Opportunities in Health and Semiconductor Sectors at German Trade Fairs

PROCOMER Promotes Costa Rica as an Investment Destination in Germany

From November 17 to 21, Costa Rica’s Promotora del Comercio Exterior (PROCOMER) will actively participate in two prominent international trade fairs in Germany, focusing on the health and semiconductor sectors. These events, MEDICA in Düsseldorf and Semicon Europa in Munich, offer Costa Rica an invaluable platform to showcase its investment potential and foster connections with industry leaders and potential investors.

Strengthening Medical Device Manufacturing

At MEDICA, taking place from November 17 to 20, PROCOMER aims to reinforce Costa Rica’s status as a leading hub for medical device manufacturing. With over 95 foreign direct investment (FDI) companies operating in this sector, Costa Rica excels in high-precision processes that adhere to international standards. Notably, the medical device industry accounts for 48% of the country's goods exports, totaling $8.14 billion as of September this year.

Laura López, General Manager of PROCOMER, emphasized the significance of diversifying investment sources to enhance the country's resilience and competitiveness. She stated, "Participating in these international fairs provides an opportunity to approach new investors and explore markets that have traditionally been underrepresented in Costa Rica."

Showcasing Semiconductor Expertise

Simultaneously, PROCOMER will attend Semicon Europa from November 18 to 21 to present Costa Rica's capabilities in advanced manufacturing, assembly, packaging, research, development, and electronic design in the semiconductor industry. This sector currently hosts 14 foreign investment firms in the country, aiming to enrich the value chain of this emerging industry in Costa Rica. López added, "Costa Rica has built a strong reputation as a destination for foreign investment, allowing us to project ourselves in front of emerging industries with a value proposition that combines talent, sustainability, and adaptability."

Recent Promotions and Future Prospects

Prior to these events, from November 10 to 14, PROCOMER conducted a promotional tour in Portugal and the Netherlands, targeting corporate services and digital technologies. Part of the agenda included participation in the Web Summit Lisbon 2025, one of the most significant technology events globally. Meetings with companies, chambers of commerce, and industry clusters in Lisbon, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam were instrumental in strengthening relationships and paving the way for new investment opportunities.

Europe has increasingly become one of the most substantial markets for foreign direct investment in Costa Rica. It stands as the country’s second-largest trade partner, contributing to 21% of total trade in 2025 with a growth rate of 17% compared to the previous year.

In conclusion, Costa Rica's participation in these prestigious international trade fairs underlines its strategic initiatives to bolster foreign investment, particularly in vital industries such as health and semiconductors. Through PROCOMER's efforts, the aim is to continue positioning Costa Rica as an attractive and reliable partner for global businesses seeking to enhance their competitiveness in an ever-evolving global marketplace.
