Hisense Drives a Quiet Green Revolution in Home Entertainment
Hisense, a leading global brand in consumer electronics and home appliances, is at the forefront of promoting energy-efficient innovations in the industry. As sustainability increasingly becomes imperative in our daily technologies, Hisense is taking significant steps to ensure that its products are not only advanced but also environmentally friendly.
Every year during Earth Hour, millions of households around the globe turn off their lights for sixty minutes. However, a vital sustainability story can unfold through screens that remain on. With home electronics playing an ever-increasing role in daily life, enhancing energy efficiency has become a key focus of innovation.
For Hisense, the journey towards greener technology begins well before a television reaches the living room. In 2025, the Huangdao factory of Hisense Hitachi was recognized by the World Economic Forum (WEF) as the first 'Lighthouse' for sustainability in the Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) sector. This acknowledgment illustrates how AI-driven manufacturing can lead to more efficient and environmentally responsible production. Following this achievement, Hisense Visual Technology's factory in Qingdao was also awarded by WEF as a customer-focused lighthouse, becoming the first and only 'Lighthouse factory' in the global television industry.
This dual recognition reflects a broader shift in Hisense's manufacturing network towards sustainability and operational excellence—a foundation that extends naturally into its 2026 television lineup. The latest Hisense models are set to showcase energy-efficient innovations that incorporate both hardware and smart functionalities. The forthcoming UR9 series, scheduled for global release in April, will introduce solar-powered remote controls in regions including Europe and Australia. Additionally, features such as an adaptive light sensor and energy-saving modes allow users to manage brightness and energy consumption effectively, promoting more efficient electricity usage.
Hisense is expanding its sustainability approach beyond the products themselves. Its eco-friendly packaging utilizes 100% certified wood and FSC® fiber materials sourced from responsible forestry, thereby reducing environmental impact throughout the manufacturing and supply chain processes across Europe.
Moreover, the company is refining its environmental assessments at the product level. The C3 laser projector is undergoing a lifecycle assessment (LCA) and product carbon footprint (PCF) verification by SGS, which supports transparent evaluations of environmental impact throughout the product's life cycle.
Many of these environmental enhancements happen subtly—through engineering advancements that boost efficiency, diminish waste, and extend product lifecycles without altering how people experience technology. For Hisense, this aligns with the vision of 'innovations for a clearer life,' focusing on developing technologies that enhance entertainment while continually lowering environmental footprints.
