Chobani's Legacy Project Fund Expands Impact to Four New States

Chobani's Legacy Project Fund Expands Impact

Chobani, the renowned yogurt brand, has announced a substantial investment in community-driven initiatives with a $1 million fund. This year, the Chobani Legacy Project is broadening its reach, marking a pivotal milestone as it extends its benefits beyond its traditional heartlands of Central New York and Idaho's Magic Valley to incorporate Muskegon, Michigan, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the hometown of La Colombe, its coffee partner.

Investing in Community Spaces

Launched in 2022, the Chobani Legacy Project aims to create permanent, community-owned spaces designed to foster connection, wellness, and opportunity among residents. Each of the four chosen projects will benefit from a grant of $250,000, chosen by employees from various divisions including manufacturing and operations. The emphasis is on developing thoughtfully designed shared spaces that address the needs of local communities.

At Chobani, we've always believed that investing in people and community makes business stronger,” stated Nishant Roy, the Chief Impact Officer. This philosophy resonates deeply in the Legacy Project, which empowers employees to lead the initiatives in their communities, further emphasizing their stakes in these locales.

Projects Overview

1. Central New York: Come One, Come All
This initiative will revamp Hyde Park in New Berlin to become a vibrant wellness hub for all ages. Planned enhancements include ADA-compliant upgrades for the playground, improved seating areas, a resurfaced basketball court, outdoor fitness equipment, and a community water station. These improvements aim to transform the park into an inclusive and engaging environment for social interaction and physical activity.

2. Twin Falls, Idaho: Connecting with Nature
In Twin Falls, funds will support the creation of the Shoshone Falls Overlook at Snake River Canyon Park. This scenic gathering space is designed to enhance community engagement with nature, featuring ADA access, ample parking, and a stunning overlook pad. The aim is for both residents and visitors to reconnect with the region's natural beauty.

3. Muskegon, Michigan: Sharing the Mission of Good Food for All
This grant will aid Creating Healthy Schools (CHS) in Muskegon to expand its efforts in community and student wellness. Upgrades to commercial kitchens will facilitate the preparation of nutritious meals while helping build a stronger local food workforce. The enhanced facilities will also allow for a new line of student-generated food products that will be offered to schools and community partners, helping families gain access to locally sourced food.

4. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Making Space for Change
The Lutheran Settlement House will use the funding to extend vital services, adding an additional floor for community gatherings and resource groups. With a history of service spanning over a century, LSH plays a crucial role in addressing urgent community needs, and this expansion will further its mission by enhancing programs for older adults and increasing opportunities for community engagement.

The Collective Vision

These four projects not only reflect the immediate impact of the funding but also embody a shared ethos between Chobani and La Colombe: when communities are empowered with shared spaces for connection, the potential for growth and collaboration is limitless. “These investments reflect our long-held belief in building community,” Roy added, stressing the importance of creating spaces that nurture relationships.
