MediCapture Unveils aiScope™ Pilot for Veterinary Sciences at VMX 2026

On January 15, 2026, MediCapture Inc., a renowned leader in medical imaging systems, announced the launch of aiScope™, a pioneering software that deploys real-time AI vision models directly on selected MediCapture Medical Teaching Resources (MTR) and Medical Visualization Resources (MVR) systems. The groundbreaking initiative will first take place in the realm of veterinary sciences, demonstrating the software's capabilities at the upcoming VMX 2026 in Orlando, Florida.

Revolutionizing Veterinary AI

The aiScope™ software allows for real-time object detection, image classification, and AI-assisted video analysis, all functioning directly on certified medical devices without needing external PCs or complex proprietary systems. This advancement addresses the significant challenge of implementing AI research models in practical clinical and educational environments, as emphasized by Bernd Jotzat, MediCapture’s Senior Product Manager. He asserts that integrating AI Vision at the point of care transforms accessibility and usability in veterinary practices.

Advanced Data Collection

The technology establishes MediCapture’s MTRs and MVRs as dynamic data capture devices, enhancing their capabilities for real-time detection and classification. With customized models, aiScope™ analyzes captured images, automatically generating bounding boxes and tags. Future software updates promise features like automatic annotation and pre-annotated exports that will streamline the manual review and tagging process, significantly improving workflow efficiency.

Open and Vendor-Agnostic

One of the standout features of aiScope™ is its vendor independence. It can operate on MTRs or MVRs and can be integrated into systems using endoscopic, microscopic, and surgical camera configurations. Users will benefit from its support of open-source models, allowing for training, conversion, and integration of community-developed models, fostering a collaborative environment for improvement and innovation.

Launching in Veterinary Education

The initial aiScope™ pilot will commence on January 15, 2026, during the VetExpo Europe in Leipzig, Germany, before showcasing at the VMX Expo in Orlando on January 17. The pilot will extend into the spring, subsequently evolving into data collection programs for veterinary colleges and research centers throughout 2026.

Portable AI Medical Solutions

MediCapture’s MTR with aiScope™ is designed for convenience, being compact enough to fit in a handheld suitcase. It can operate for over eight hours on a quality external battery while consuming less than 20 watts of power. Attendees at VMX 2026 will witness a live demonstration of aiScope™ alongside VUEES™ Mobility, showcasing how this portable technology can transform veterinary medicine.

Insights from MediCapture’s Leadership

Michael Bishop, President and CEO of MediCapture, reflected on the significance of starting this initiative within veterinary sciences. He highlighted the expansive scope of veterinary medicine, which encompasses over 65,000 species of vertebrates, underscoring the importance of accelerated scientific discovery. The portability of aiScope™ allows for the application of AI-driven imaging in various locations around the world, promoting educational outreach and research globally.

Availability Details

The projected availability for pilot university participants is set for March 2026, with commercial rollout anticipated in selected MediCapture systems by early summer 2026.
