The Japanese Romanticist Association, a think tank focused on redefining society through romanticism, has announced the launch of its new project, 'IDENTI-T'. This initiative aims to challenge our perception of T-shirts, transforming them into a medium that expresses deep personal connection and resonance.

Operated by the creative company World Eggs, led by CEO Katsunori Nabuki, IDENTI-T explores the question: What is a T-shirt? Rather than viewing T-shirts merely as fashion items, this project recognizes them as 'quiet media' that embody our passions and personal narratives. By capturing the nuances of our interests, these shirts serve as conduits for shared emotions and connections between like-minded individuals.

The Essence of the Project


The essence of the IDENTI-T project stems from the conceptual framework of French philosopher Michel Foucault’s idea of 'identity' intersecting with everyday styles. By exploring seven romantic perspectives - love, adventure, sensation, remembrance, celebration, creation, and illusion - the association aims to inspire discussions about future societal shapes through the lens of romance.

The project’s first focus is on the Creative Romantic viewpoint, exploring the capacity to create emotional experiences. It delves into how we visualize the world and our identity through the art of T-shirts.

First Release: 'Cream Soda T'


The inaugural release, 'Cream Soda T', celebrates a nostalgic element of Showa-era café culture in Japan. In our current era, where a retro revival is capturing cultural interest, this T-shirt invites wearers to reflect on the flavors of memory and youthful aspirations. The iconic cream soda, not merely a trendy aesthetic, represents flavors tied to love and cherished memories.

This shirt features two affirming phrases: "Adults are loving it" and "Everyone's favorite" alongside a charming illustration of a nostalgic cream soda topped with ice cream and a cherry. It’s designed for those with a quiet passion for this classic drink, offering a subtle way to express personal love.
