Stitzel-Weller Distillery Launches Stitzel Reserve Bourbon Series Celebrating Whiskey Heritage

A New Era in Bourbon: The Stitzel Reserve Launch

Stitzel-Weller Distillery has taken a monumental step in the world of whiskey with the introduction of its Stitzel Reserve series. This exciting launch, announced on June 9, 2025, unveils a unique 24-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that marks the beginning of rare, distillery-exclusive releases. Nestled in Louisville, Kentucky, this iconic distillery is widely recognized as the cathedral of Bourbon, a title it has earned since it first opened its doors in 1935.

The Stitzel Reserve is not just about the age of whiskey; it embodies the rich history and tradition of the American bourbon craft. This inaugural release pays homage to the distillery's impressive 90-year legacy and aims to elevate and preserve the art of whiskey crafting. Each bottle will showcase the best liquid sourced from the distillery's most precious archival barrels, ensuring that only the most exceptional spirits make it to the market.

Designed under the expert supervision of Nicole Austin, the Director of American Whiskey Liquid Development at Diageo, the Stitzel Reserve is a remarkable collection aimed specifically at whiskey aficionados. The first batch consists of only 191 bottles, carefully curated from just nine barrels. Austin’s meticulous selection process celebrates the most extraordinary barrels that Stitzel-Weller has to offer.

Austin described the experience of working with the distillery’s aging barrels: “At Stitzel-Weller Distillery, we are fortunate to have inherited some of the most remarkable aging barrels in the country. The launch of Stitzel Reserve is a pivotal moment for our distillery. This exceptional 24-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey has spent decades maturing, developing a profile rich with notes of cracked leather, saddle oil, and burnt sugar.” This blend of flavors perfectly captures the craftsmanship synonymous with the Stitzel-Weller legacy.

And while Stitzel Reserve represents a fresh new label in the whiskey market, it also serves as a tribute to the storied past of bourbon. Each limited release will be thoughtfully curated based on the quality of the liquid and its peak maturity, without a set schedule, assuring that collectors will eagerly await future offerings.

The 24-Year-Old offering will be available exclusively on-site at the distillery in Louisville for consumers aged 21 and over starting June 2025. In addition to purchasing a bottle, visitors can participate in an exclusive tasting experience at the Garden & Gun Club, which will feature bespoke whiskey tastings paired with an etched whiskey glass and a unique Stitzel-Weller Distillery pin.

As fans prepare for this highly anticipated launch, they can expect not just to buy a bottle, but to gain a piece of history. Stitzel Reserve will thus remind us of the immense craftsmanship that has defined this distillery and its role as a steward of extraordinary whiskey.
