Strengthening Educational Opportunities for Black Learners
InsideTrack, a leading nonprofit dedicated to improving student success across the nation, has made a significant announcement: they have appointed Dr. Henri A. LaSane as the new associate vice president of HBCU Programs. This crucial move aims to empower Black learners and enhance success coaching initiatives in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) throughout the country.
Dr. LaSane brings with him almost two decades of extensive experience in strategic leadership and program development, focusing on educational equity. His appointment is seen as pivotal in building strong educational communities and ensuring that the success coaching philosophy meets the unique needs of HBCUs, institutions that play a vital role in providing opportunities for historically marginalized populations.
President of InsideTrack, Ruth Bauer, expressed excitement about Dr. LaSane's hiring, stating, "Henri has a proven track record of developing people and designing impactful programs that yield breakthrough results. His expertise is crucial for enhancing coaching practices at HBCUs and fostering a sense of belonging among students."
Dr. LaSane will head efforts to engage with a diverse network of institutions and partners, focusing on cultivating relationships with HBCUs and other educational organizations. One of his primary goals is to work collaboratively with these institutions to identify barriers to student success and devise innovative strategies to overcome them.
With over two decades in higher education leadership, Dr. LaSane has a deep-seated passion for advocating for underrepresented students. He aims to leverage this passion to expand the conversation surrounding HBCU student experiences and outcomes.
Before joining InsideTrack, Dr. LaSane held significant leadership roles at College Track, a nationally recognized college completion program. His time there was marked by substantial increases in scholar retention rates and the successful execution of enriching summer programs serving over 500 students. He fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation, elements he sees as crucial in his new role.
Reflecting on his new position, Dr. LaSane stated, "As an HBCU alum and passionate advocate for equity in higher education, I am excited to join InsideTrack and tackle the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Our mission will be to enhance the HBCU student experience, ensuring that every student has access to the resources and guidance they need to succeed."
Dr. LaSane's educational background further solidifies his commitment to HBCUs; he is a proud alumnus of Florida A&M University and holds two advanced degrees from St. Thomas University in Florida—one in executive management and leadership and another in educational leadership and innovation.
InsideTrack has a longstanding history of supporting Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs), including around 40 HBCUs. This commitment is further highlighted by their partnerships with organizations like UNCF and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. By adding Dr. LaSane to the team, InsideTrack is well-positioned to advance initiatives that address the specific needs of HBCUs and their students.
Through his leadership, Dr. LaSane is set to facilitate crucial discussions about innovative coaching strategies and practices that can promote educational success among HBCU students. With the right tools and support, InsideTrack aims to unlock the vast potential inherent in the HBCU experience, aligning with their mission to foster a better future for all learners.
