Union Tech’s Unique Gift Option for New Clinics: Art that Complements Spaces

Union Tech's Innovative Approach to Clinic Opening Gifts

Union Tech, based in Shibuya, Tokyo, has made significant strides in revolutionizing the way new clinic owners receive gifts during their opening phase. Known for its mission to "Build a new standard," the company recently conducted a survey among 210 newly established physicians across Japan to understand their preferences regarding celebratory gifts during the opening of their clinics.

The results highlighted a shift in gifting culture, with a notable 16.19% of respondents expressing a preference for “art pieces that match their space,” following traditional gifts such as ornamental plants and orchids. This insight opens up new avenues for gifting practices within the healthcare community, emphasizing the importance of aesthetic alignment in professional environments.

Background of the Survey

Celebratory flowers have long been a staple among gifts for new clinic openings, symbolizing support and appreciation from colleagues and associates. However, as new clinics begin their journey, managing these gifts can become a challenge due to limited space and the maintenance required for live plants, which can lead to concerns about waste once they wither away.

Understanding the dual perspective of both the giver’s intentions and the recipient’s challenges when receiving gifts is essential. This understanding drives Union Tech's commitment to not only design and construct beautiful spaces but also to ensure their ongoing appeal with innovative solutions like their original art service, "Origift."

Key Findings from the Survey

1. High Acceptance of Celebratory Flowers: 80.48% of the surveyed physicians reported having received flowers as a congratulatory gift after opening their clinics, indicating the strong tradition of this practice in the industry.

2. Challenges Encountered: The most common issues faced when receiving flowers included "the hassle of managing them" (31.95%) and "the disposal of withered flowers" (30.18%). Additional concerns were about finding adequate space (18.34%) and the effort required to express gratitude (18.34%).

3. Givers’ Intentions: Among the 163 physicians who had previously given gifts, 56.44% indicated that they wanted the recipient to feel appreciated, while 27.61% valued the uniqueness of their gifts to avoid overlap with others.

4. Interest in Artistic Gifts: When asked about their ideal gifts, 16.19% of respondents preferred art pieces that harmonize with their clinic's interior, ranking it as a desirable option after popular gifts like ornamental plants (21.43%) and orchids (18.10%).

Introducing "Origift"

The survey's revelation of the demand for art pieces led Union Tech to highlight its new service, "Origift." This original art service allows designers to create bespoke art that aligns with the recipient’s space's concept, interior design, and color scheme.

The key features of the Origift service include:
  • - Aesthetic Enhancement: The artwork is curated by designers familiar with the space, ensuring a seamless blend that enhances overall quality.
  • - Longevity: Unlike flowers that need disposal, these artworks maintain their significance as lasting interior pieces, requiring no upkeep.
  • - Personalization: Artworks can seamlessly integrate the clinic's name, logo, and messages from the physician, making the piece truly one of a kind.

Future Outlook

With over 25 years of experience and more than 10,000 completed projects, Union Tech aims to expand its offerings beyond traditional construction, focusing on curating spaces that nourish brand value.
