Plume Joins Forces with Web3Labs to Pioneer RWA Policy in Asia

Advancing Real-World Asset Policy in Asia

In a groundbreaking initiative, Plume and Web3Labs have successfully wrapped up a series of impactful forums in July, aimed at furthering the development of real-world asset (RWA) policies across Hong Kong and Mainland China. The forums were designed to catalyze collaboration among various stakeholders, showcasing the region's position as a leader in regulatory frameworks, technical advancements, and institutional involvement in the RWA space.

The forum series, aptly titled “2025 Spotlight Hong Kong's New Policy on Digital Assets,” took place in major cities: Hong Kong, Beijing, and Hangzhou, and drew in over 1,000 participants. This diverse group included representatives from government bodies, global financial institutions, and technological innovators in the Web3 landscape. Featured speakers included Hong Kong Legislative Council Member Johnny Ng, Cyberport Chairman Jack Kong, and Eunice Chan from the Hong Kong Government Beijing office, alongside notable companies like Microsoft, Animoca Brands, and the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council.

A Strong Start in Hong Kong

The inaugural event in Hong Kong saw participation from more than 300 senior officials and key players from the finance and technology sectors. The forum welcomed discussions surrounding the city’s “Digital Asset 2.0 Policy Declaration.” Emphasizing the role of policy in innovation, Hong Kong’s Legislative Council Chairman on Web3 and Virtual Assets noted that “compliance is the foundation, innovation is the driver.” This guiding principle is essential as the city builds its infrastructure to support RWA adoption.

Plume took the opportunity to announce its ambitious plans to expand its operations in Hong Kong. They are set to unveil an institutional-grade RWA trading platform that partners with prominent global financial institutions such as UBS, Blackstone, Invesco, and others. Teddy Pornprinya, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer of Plume, stated, "Plume's asset management system is well-integrated for the APAC region and engages in crucial dialogues with the U.S. SEC Crypto Task Force to foster compliant digital asset initiatives."

Expanding Reach to Beijing and Hangzhou

As the forum series progressed to Beijing and Hangzhou, discussions once again reiterated the need for strong cross-border collaboration to establish Greater China as a benchmark for RWA development and usage. Shukyee Ma, Plume’s Chief Strategy Officer, showcased how Hong Kong’s compliance-centric approach serves as a potential model for broader Web3 developments throughout Asia.

Jack Kong, Chairman of Hong Kong Cyberport, summed up the sentiments shared during these forums, emphasizing that "the key to unlocking onchain opportunities lies in integrating regulatory compliance with practical applications."

Looking to the Future

The series of events illustrated a burgeoning synergy between policy leadership, institutional preparedness, and technological infrastructure. The rapid advancements in Hong Kong’s “Digital Asset 2.0” initiative are positioning the city as a premier launchpad for RWA adoption in the region, which is essential for inciting innovation and facilitating cross-border capital flows.

Plume and Web3Labs are dedicated to establishing regulatory-compliant infrastructures that will help set a global standard for RWAs. Their focus on compliance, interoperability, and practical utility aims to cultivate a landscape where asset tokenization can effectively flourish.
