NGP VAN Introduces Groundbreaking Features to Enhance Volunteer Engagement
In an exciting development for Democratic campaigns and progressive movements, NGP VAN has announced the launch of two new features for its platform, Mobilize. The introduction of a
Volunteer Host Hub and
automated waitlist functionality aims to elevate the way organizations manage volunteer-driven initiatives and events. These advancements are set to empower supporters, streamline event management, and allow grassroots organizers to maximize turnout while significantly reducing manual administrative tasks.
In a statement highlighting the importance of these new features, Chelsea Peterson Thompson, General Manager of NGP VAN, emphasized that today's Democratic and progressive organizers are looking for more than just participation in events. They seek meaningful opportunities to lead and engage in their communities. The new tools aim to turn this volunteer energy into sustained action, thereby nurturing grassroots leadership and enhancing campaign effectiveness.
Volunteer Host Hub: A New Space for Leadership
The newly launched
Volunteer Host Hub serves as a dedicated platform where supporters can explore opportunities to host events for campaigns, advocacy groups, unions, and other grassroots organizations. By visiting
mobilize.us/volunteerhost, individuals can easily browse through campaigns actively seeking event hosts, filter options based on organizations or dates, and understand how to step into a leadership role.
Previously, the primary focus of Mobilize's public-facing experience revolved around helping supporters find events to attend. However, with the introduction of the Volunteer Host Hub, a parallel pathway for those eager to take on leadership roles is now established, thus promoting distributed organizing efforts nationwide. As a significant indicator of this initiative's potential, nearly 20% of all sign-ups across the Mobilize platform now come from volunteer hosts, with more than 3,000 new individuals joining every month. This increasing trend highlights a growing reliance on volunteer-led events as pivotal in expanding organizational capacities beyond the limits of staff teams alone.
Automated Waitlist Advances: Streamlining Participation
In addition to the Volunteer Host Hub, NGP VAN has rolled out an
automated waitlist advancement feature for Mobilize events. This innovative functionality automatically transitions supporters from the waitlist into available spots as cancellations occur. Previously, event organizers faced the cumbersome task of manually tracking openings and reaching out to attendees. Now, with this update, over 2,800 supporters have already found their way into confirmed event spots, effectively recovering demand that would have otherwise been lost due to manual inefficiencies.
This enhancement is particularly crucial during heightened volunteer demand periods, ensuring organizations can keep their events full and maximize participation while providing a seamless experience for supporters eager to engage.
A Response to Modern Organizing Needs
Sofia El Gharbi, Group Product Manager at NGP VAN, remarked on the evolution Mobilize is undergoing to meet the demands of contemporary organizing. The addition of these two features not only empowers grassroots supporters by placing them in leadership roles but also aids organizers in filling every event spot effortlessly. This combination seeks to eliminate obstacles and convert the enthusiasm of supporters into concrete involvement.
The announcement comes on the heels of significant organizing activity during nationwide May Day actions, where Mobilize witnessed record-breaking participation levels as countless events were coordinated through the platform, leading to tens of thousands of new volunteer sign-ups.
