PUMA Launches 'Mostro XC Oshman's 40th' to Celebrate Oshman's 40th Anniversary

Celebrating Four Decades of Oshman's with PUMA

To mark the significant milestone of its 40th anniversary, Oshman's Japan, a prominent urban sports retail company based in Tokyo's Minato ward, is set to launch the limited edition PUMA "Mostro XC 'Oshman's 40th'" model on November 15, 2025. The anticipation for the launch is building, especially with a pre-order opportunity starting on November 7 at 7:30 PM via the official Magforlia Instagram account and the Oshman's online store.

A Special Collaboration

This collaboration model, crafted in celebration of Oshman's four decades in the sports industry, is directed by Mr. Yamada from the renowned Magforlia store in Fujieda, Shizuoka. Drawing inspiration from his first visit to Oshman’s back in 1997, Yamada designed a shoe that embodies a nostalgic 90s vibe, reminiscent of the outdoor footwear that would have been on display in stores during that time.

The shoe features an upper made of rich brown suede and black textile, complemented by a vibrant purple formstrip—a signature element of PUMA. This pairing creates a unique aesthetic that balances both nostalgia and modern freshness. A hallmark of the Mostro series is the spike-like outsole, giving the shoe a distinctive presence. Additionally, an orange pair of replacement shoelaces allows for varied styling options, offering a sense of “pleasant discomfort” for younger audiences while evoking a sense of history for long-time Oshman’s fans.

The Mostro Legacy

Introduced back in 1999, PUMA’s “Mostro” line stands out as an iconic model known for its unconventional and experimental design. The name 'Mostro' translates to 'monster' in Italian, aptly reflecting the shoe’s bold and unique design. It combines elements from 1960s sprint spikes and 1980s surf shoes, creating a hybrid that has made waves in both sports and street fashion.

The original design was revolutionary with its low-profile silhouette and spike-like protrusions on the outsole, bridging the gap between various styles. The derived model, Mostro XC, keeps the essence of the original while incorporating a more outdoor and trail-oriented structure. Utilizing durable materials such as suede, textile, and synthetic leather for the upper, alongside a rubber and TPU sole, it embodies a perfect blend of practicality and aesthetic appeal.
