Nscale Secures Significant Financing for AI Infrastructure
Nscale, a leading name in hyperscale artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, has announced the closing of roughly
$3 billion in aggregate commitments for its initiatives in
Ward County, Texas and
Madison County, North Carolina. This substantial financing aims to enhance the deployment of cutting-edge GPU infrastructure alongside necessary networking, storage, and liquid cooling systems across both locations.
Details of the Financing
The financial commitments involve two senior secured delayed draw term loan facilities (DDTLs). One arrangement focuses on Nscale's
Ward County campus, securing up to
$1.85 billion, while the other is dedicated to the
Madison County site, amounting to
$1.2 billion. Significantly, both facilities have earned investment-grade ratings with stable outlooks, reflecting confidence in Nscale's operational strategy and financial management.
The funding obtained is primarily aimed at bolstering GPU infrastructure, which is essential for high-performance AI applications. The modern facilities will cater to advanced computing needs, creating ecosystems that support heightened AI operations efficiently.
Ward County, Texas Campus
The Texas site has been designed to be a high-density AI infrastructure campus. It combines advanced technologies, such as closed-loop direct liquid cooling systems and rear-door heat exchangers, which are critical for efficient operation of next-generation compute deployments. With the support of the allocated
$1.85 billion, Nscale plans to implement NVIDIA's state-of-the-art systems, including the
GB300 (Blackwell Ultra) and
VR200 (Vera Rubin) systems. This initiative is projected to support an impressive
275 MW of IT load, enhancing computational capabilities significantly.
Madison County, North Carolina Site
Meanwhile, the
Madison County campus spans
96 acres and has a proposed capacity of up to
40 MW. The financing here will direct efforts towards retrofitting the site, as well as developing GPU infrastructure and networking tools necessary for delivering high-performance AI capabilities. This state-of-the-art site will enable organizations to leverage AI technologies for various applications, enhancing efficiency and productivity in multiple sectors.
Leading Financial Partners
The financial structuring of these loan facilities involved significant partnerships.
J.P. Morgan and
Goldman Sachs acted as joint lead arrangers, co-bookrunners, and co-structuring agents for both facilities. Notably, J.P. Morgan led the arrangement for the Ward County facility, while Goldman Sachs took the lead for the North Carolina project. This collaboration indicates a robust backing from leading financial institutions, further endorsing Nscale's ambitious plans.
