PMB and El Camino Health to Launch New Rehabilitation Hospital in Sunnyvale

PMB and El Camino Health Break Ground on New Rehabilitation Hospital

In a significant development for healthcare in Silicon Valley, PMB, a prominent healthcare real estate developer, has officially begun construction on the El Camino Health Rehabilitation Hospital, in partnership with El Camino Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation. This state-of-the-art facility is set to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services to the community in Sunnyvale, California.

Expansion of Healthcare Services

Having broken ground on April 24, 2025, the new hospital promises to enhance access to high-quality rehabilitation services within Santa Clara County. Spanning 64,000 square feet and consisting of 52 beds, the hospital will be built with a patient-centered approach to foster healing and recovery.

“The El Camino Health Rehabilitation Hospital allows us to expand access to high-quality rehabilitation services and further solidifies El Camino Health’s growing reputation as Silicon Valley’s healthcare partner of choice,” stated Dan Woods, CEO of El Camino Health. This new facility is anticipated to begin accepting patients by spring 2027.

Design and Facilities

Located at 1027 West El Camino Real, the hospital is designed to offer a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals recovering from significant health challenges, including strokes, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries. The facility will integrate advanced technological resources to support recovery and enhance patient outcomes.

Patients will enjoy full private rooms equipped with bathrooms, designed for privacy and comfort. The hospital will feature specialized care units, including a secured brain injury unit, and will benefit from large interdisciplinary gyms and a therapeutic courtyard. This courtyard will offer various surfaces and activities, such as golf and gardens, to improve mobility training and rehabilitation experiences.

Additionally, a transitional living apartment will simulate a home environment where patients can practice daily living tasks, preparing them for their eventual return to independent living.

Comprehensive Support Services

El Camino Health will also provide a full range of ancillary and support services, including radiology, laboratory services, and managed care contracting. This comprehensive approach seeks to ensure that all therapeutic needs are met, fostering an environment conducive to effective rehabilitation.

“This new facility is not just about providing rehabilitation services while patients are in treatment—it’s about supporting them beyond their stay,” Woods emphasized. “With dedicated transitional services, we aim to help patients regain independence and successfully return to their everyday lives.”

Collaborating for Community Health

The development team, including PMB as the developer and Material Design Architects as the architect, is committed to delivering a facility that embodies the highest standards of healthcare. “PMB is honored to be working with El Camino Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation on this project that will provide the residents of Sunnyvale increased access to high-quality rehabilitation care,” remarked Nolan Weinberg, SVP of Development at PMB.

The establishment of the El Camino Health Rehabilitation Hospital reflects the growing focus on rehabilitation services in Silicon Valley. With continued growth and development in healthcare facilities, this new hospital stands as a testament to PMB and its partners' commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of community members.
