Bipartisan Bill Introduced to Accelerate Cardiovascular Research in the U.S.
On September 27, 2026, ASANA Voices warmly welcomed a new bipartisan bill presented in the U.S. Senate. Crafted under the leadership of Senators Thom Tillis (Republican, North Carolina) and Alex Padilla (Democrat, California), the bill aims to establish the Heart Security Foundation. This foundation is intended to be a non-profit organization under the auspices of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), with a focus on accelerating cardiovascular research, improving prevention and early detection, as well as enhancing the health of Americans from diverse backgrounds.
Cardiovascular diseases persist as the leading cause of death in the United States, claiming the lives of nearly a million individuals every year. Currently, approximately 120 million adults in the U.S. live with some form of cardiovascular disease, implying that nearly one-third of the population is at heightened risk for this health issue.
