Terakeet Invitational Generates Over $150,000 for Syracuse Schools' Educational Programs
Terakeet Invitational Raises Record $150,000 to Support Syracuse Students
On July 13, 2026, at the beautiful Skaneateles Country Club, the inaugural Terakeet Invitational achieved remarkable success by raising $151,000. This significant amount is earmarked specifically for educational programs and resources benefiting students in the Syracuse City School District (SCSD). The event was a collaborative effort that showcased the dedication of local business leaders and community members committed to enhancing educational opportunities in the Syracuse area.
The tournament saw participation from 108 golfers, 15 volunteers, and 40 local organizations, all coming together for a common cause. Among the distinguished attendees were representatives from title sponsor Terakeet, Margaritaville, Barclay Damon, and Delmonico Insurance, highlighting the strong community support behind this initiative.
Prominent football figures also joined the event in a spirit of camaraderie and philanthropy. A group of players from the Buffalo Bills, including Spencer Brown, Dalton Kincaid, and Cole Bishop, donated a generous $5,000 along with signed memorabilia to aid the fundraiser. Brown expressed his enthusiasm for participating, emphasizing the importance of giving back to the local community. He stated, “Syracuse is our neighbor… If spending a day on the course and contributing in a small way helps create more educational opportunities for kids, that's something we're proud to be part of.”
Founded in 2013 by Terakeet employees, Cause For The Cuse has consistently focused on providing essential support to students across 30 Syracuse-area schools, empowering over 20,000 students over the years. The funds raised from this year's tournament will provide SCSD students with vital school supplies, external educational programming, and other necessary resources as they prepare to embark on a new school year.
Mac Cummings, CEO and Co-founder of Terakeet, reflected on the organization’s journey saying, “Our work began with helping provide school supplies but has grown into something much bigger. Even as Terakeet has grown into a national company, Syracuse will always be home…” He expressed deep gratitude towards every sponsor, golfer, and volunteer who played a role in making the Terakeet Invitational the largest fundraising effort undertaken by Cause For The Cuse.
The impact of this event also resonates beyond mere financial contributions. Larry Luttinger, Executive Director of the Central New York Jazz Arts Foundation, acknowledged the stability that Cause For The Cuse has provided, which has enabled underserved urban students to participate in enriching programs like the SummerJazz Workshop.
The success of the Terakeet Invitational represents not only the culmination of a successful event but also a promising new chapter in supporting education in the Syracuse community. This initiative stands out for its unique ability to unite sports, business, and local charity efforts, fostering an environment of collaboration aimed at creating tangible benefits for students. Looking ahead, additional corporate partnerships and increased community involvement are expected to expand this initiative's reach and impact even further.
