Blockchain for Good Alliance Takes Center Stage at UN IGF 2025 in Oslo

Spotlight on the BGA at IGF 2025

On July 31, 2025, the Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA), a prominent nonprofit founded by Bybit, showcased its commitment to fostering responsible innovation at the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2025 in Oslo. This event marked the 20th anniversary of the UN IGF and was co-hosted by the Singapore Internet Governance Forum (SGIGF).

The BGA organized a prestigious dinner titled "Bridging the Future: Blockchain, Governance & Global Cooperation" held at the historic Akershus Fortress. This high-level gathering brought together global leaders from governments and multilateral organizations, as well as representatives from industries like blockchain and artificial intelligence, all aiming to encourage discussions on creating inclusive, ethical, and interoperable digital infrastructures.

The dinner was led by Glenn Tan, Director of Global Affairs at the BGA, and co-organized with SGIGF founders, Henry Wang and Una Wang. Notable attendees included His Excellency Dharambeer Gokhool, the President of Mauritius, Argentine National Deputy Pamela Calletti, Chilean Senator Kenneth Pugh, along with various representatives from UN agencies and national parliaments.

The primary focus of the evening revolved around how blockchain can shape a trustworthy and collaborative global digital ecosystem. President Gokhool emphasized the importance of ethical digital governance: "As we stand at a digital crossroads, Mauritius reaffirms its commitment to a model of governance that is ethical, inclusive, and rights-based. Events like IGF 2025 remind us that trust, cooperation, and shared values must be our guiding principles as we navigate the era of AI and emerging technologies. The IGF 2025 was not just a conference; it was a collective call to conscience."

Echoing this sentiment, Glenn Tan stressed the necessity for forward-thinking infrastructure: "As blockchain moves from hyper-advertising cycles to physical Internet infrastructure, we must ensure that the systems created today serve the collective good of tomorrow. This gathering symbolizes our shared commitment to a multi-stakeholder future, rooted in trust and innovation."

Henry Wang of SGIGF pointed out that while the UN IGF celebrates two decades of defining global internet governance, the next 20 years must be co-created across sectors, systems, and sovereignties: "Blockchain, when aligned with responsible governance and ethical AI, can become the connective fabric of a truly inclusive, decentralized, and intelligent Internet."

The evening reaffirmed the BGA's mission to promote cross-border collaboration and responsible digital transformation. These pivotal discussions will continue at the inaugural IGF in Singapore on October 1, 2025, where regional stakeholders will steer the global dialogue concerning inclusive and resilient internet governance.
