Charichari Expands Its Reach in Kumamoto and Kikuyo
Charichari Inc., known for its shared bicycle service, is set to expand its operations in the Kumamoto and Kikuyo areas, enhancing accessibility for both residents and visitors. Starting on September 16, 2025, at noon, the service will be available in the Musashizuka area and certain locations within Kikuyo, effectively connecting Kumamoto City with Kikuyo as one seamless area for bike sharing.
This expansion comes in response to the rapidly growing demand for mobility options within the region and the steady usage rates of the service since its launch. Since Charichari's inception in February 2018, it has facilitated over 37 million rides, showcasing its vital role as a public transportation alternative.
In Kumamoto City, the service has experienced significant growth since its launch in April 2022, amassing over 2.7 million rides. Meanwhile, the service in Kikuyo began as a pilot project in October 2024 and transitioned to full-scale operations in April 2025, marking a successful introduction to the local transportation landscape.
