The Minato City Historical Museum is proud to announce the opening of its special exhibition, "Resonating Artworks from Historical Collections," which will commence on April 19, 2023. This event serves as a unique platform for showcasing a curated selection of artworks, highlighting the contributions of artists who have had significant ties to the Minato area, along with pieces generously donated by notable local figures.
Visitors to the exhibition can expect to see remarkable artworks, including oil paintings by female artists who worked abroad during the Meiji period, as well as rare hand-painted works and woodblock prints. Moreover, the exhibition encapsulates the profound artistic exchanges bred from the interactions of local literature and art, presenting a collection of crafts by holders of intangible cultural assets. Each piece brings forth a unique narrative, echoing the rich tapestry of history that defines the Minato district.
The event not only aims to provide a glimpse into the artistic endeavors that have flourished in the region but also invites attendees to reflect on the stories behind each work. Art enthusiasts and history buffs alike will find joy in this immersive space, where artworks resonate with the historical contexts and cultural legacies of Minato.
The exhibition runs from April 19 until June 15, 2023, and takes place in the dedicated exhibition room of the Minato City Historical Museum, located at 4-6-2 Shirokanedai, Yuyūshinodai. The museum is open from 9 AM to 5 PM, with extended hours until 8 PM on Saturdays. Please note that the museum will be closed on May 15, 2023.
