Tales of Identity & Imagination, in partnership with the acclaimed platform,
Open Screenplay. This innovative program aims to encourage writers from diverse backgrounds to submit captivating short film screenplays that delve into the rich themes of identity, belonging, and the experiences of minorities and underrepresented communities.
For years, M Film Lab has been a staunch advocate for diverse storytelling, amplifying voices that frequently remain silent in mainstream media. By challenging societal perspectives through its unique program, the Spring 2025 Lab is set to unearth compelling narratives that illuminate the realities faced by minority communities.
About the Spring 2025 Lab
The
Spring 2025 Lab will be entirely virtual, accessible through
Open Screenplay's platform. Participants will be selected based on their submissions, with the program offering a unique opportunity for
six talented writers to receive personalized mentorship from industry veterans.
At the culmination of the lab, one outstanding screenplay will be chosen for production, with an option fee set at
USD $1,500.
Submission Guidelines
Writers interested in participating should adhere to the following guidelines:
- - Format: Short Film Screenplay (12-15 pages)
- - Theme: Screenplays should focus on the experiences tied to minorities, immigrants, and underrepresented groups. Writers are encouraged to push boundaries and tell impactful, imaginative stories.
- - Deadline: Submissions are due by May 16, 2025.
