Skanska has officially signed a contract with Marion County Public Schools to build the new Lake Weir Middle School in Ocala, Florida. The construction project is valued at a considerable USD 63 million, approximately SEK 620 million, and will be reflected in Skanska's order bookings for the last quarter of 2025.
Project Details
This ambitious project entails the development of a modern middle school covering 14,500 square meters, consisting of three stories on a spacious 12-hectare greenfield site. The design includes 43 classrooms aimed to accommodate over 1,400 students, making it a substantial facility to handle the increasing student population in Marion County.
In addition to the classrooms, the new school will include a range of facilities that support both education and physical activities. Notable features will be a fully-equipped gymnasium, an auditorium for school events, and a cafeteria for student meals. The school will also boast outdoor sporting spaces designed for various sports such as baseball, softball, soccer, as well as track and field events. All these features ensure that the school provides a well-rounded environment for both academic and extracurricular activities.
