Korean Air Partners with GE Aerospace for Next-Gen Aircraft Engines

Korean Air has recently made headlines by selecting GE Aerospace engines to power its upcoming fleet of Boeing 787-10 and 777-9 aircraft. This strategic decision marks a significant chapter in the airline's commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities and expanding its international reach.

The New Order

On March 26, 2025, GE Aerospace announced that Korean Air has agreed to purchase 20 Boeing 777-9 aircraft along with up to 30 Boeing 787-10 aircraft. This latest order comes with the provision for GEnx and GE9X engines, further cementing the relationship between the two industry giants. Russell Stokes, President and CEO of GE Aerospace's Commercial Engines and Services, expressed gratitude for Korean Air's continued trust in GE's technology and support.

The inclusion of a maintenance, repair, and overhaul service agreement with this order signifies a mutual commitment to excellence and operational efficiency. With this order, Korean Air becomes the first airline in South Korea to utilize the powerful GE9X engines.
