Introduction
In a bid to streamline the management systems for retailers, Store Record Co., Ltd., headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, has announced the launch of a revolutionary feature within their SaaS offering, Store Record. This new capability enables Amazon sellers to automatically retrieve sales data, advertising expenses, and visitor statistics (session numbers) with ease. By simply toggling the automatic retrieval option on their management dashboard, small retail businesses selling on Amazon can efficiently track everything from daily sales to the effectiveness of their advertising investments and product-specific access metrics.
Addressing Cost Management Challenges on Amazon
Selling on Amazon often presents a myriad of cost management challenges due to the complex fee structure. Sellers encounter various costs, including FBA fees (fulfillment service fees and inventory storage fees), sales commissions, and a range of advertising options such as Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, and Sponsored Display. Furthermore, the discrepancies in billing and aggregation between advertising costs and sales commissions, as well as the varying frequency with which these fees accrue, make it difficult for sellers to accurately link costs to their advertising strategies. As a result, many retailers find themselves in situations where they experience healthy sales growth, only to discover at month-end that their profits have dwindled, particularly affecting businesses that heavily invest in advertising.
The Burden of Manual Data Management
Historically, accurately determining profit from Amazon sales necessitated downloading and compiling various reports:
- - Order reports from Seller Central (sales data)
- - Multiple reports from the Advertising Console (for Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, etc.)
- - Business reports (session numbers, page views, cart addition rates, etc.)
- - Payment reports (real costs of FBA fees, sales commissions, etc.)
These disparate data formats led to an extensive manual labor requirement for sorting and analyzing performance metrics. Small and medium-sized businesses were often left to spend hours each month on Excel or spreadsheets, reducing the time available for productive analysis.
Automating Profit Management with Store Record
Dashboard for Contribution Margin
Store Record's new feature leverages the Amazon Selling Partner API (SP-API) to automatically retrieve order data on a daily basis. By managing the link between ASIN and SKU, Store Record allows retailers to conduct instant sales analysis connected to their product master list.
Automatic Retrieval of Advertising Expenses
Through the Amazon Ads API, Store Record automatically collects advertising cost data from various Amazon advertising formats, including Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands. The retrieved data is displayed daily on a contribution margin dashboard, enabling sellers to immediately identify their effective profits, subtracting advertising costs directly on the same screen as their sales figures.
Automated Calculation of Sales Commissions
Sellers face an array of fees associated with sales commissions and shipping charges, in addition to advertising expenses. Store Record allows sellers to predefine cost calculation rules per store, automatically deriving estimates at the order and SKU levels for both variable and fixed charges.
Automated Visitor Statistics Collection
Leveraging data from Amazon's business reports, Store Record can automatically gather session and page view statistics by product. In the conversion rate dashboard, sellers can analyze:
- - Product-specific sales quantities
- - Session counts
- - Conversion rates
- - Inventory levels
- - Average selling prices
This functionality empowers retailers to identify trends such as products with high session counts but low conversion rates, enabling them to refine content. Conversely, they can strategically allocate advertisements toward products that maintain low sessions but demonstrate high conversion rates, maximizing financial efficiency.
Cross-Channel Analysis with Major E-Commerce Platforms
Store Record's capabilities extend beyond Amazon, as the platform has already integrated with leading channels such as Rakuten Ichiba, ZOZOTOWN, Shopify, and Futureshop. With the recent Amazon integration, users can now conduct cross-channel comparisons of sales, advertising expenses, and visitor insights from a single dashboard. Retailers can now make informed decisions about where to invest advertising dollars by analyzing contribution margins and conversion rates across different platforms.
Future Outlook
With a commitment to providing quality management solutions to all retail businesses, Store Record intends to continually develop and offer features that meet the analytical and decision-making needs of retailers. This proactive approach ensures that businesses remain agile and informed in an ever-evolving marketplace.
