Ledger Run Strengthens AI Focus with New Leadership
Ledger Run, a prominent player in clinical trial financial management, recently announced the appointment of Anne Pelz as its new Vice President of Product. With over 20 years of experience in life sciences technology, Pelz is poised to drive the company's commitment to building cutting-edge AI-powered financial platforms.
Pelz's journey in the tech world began at Yale University, where she obtained her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering. She later earned an MBA with a focus on new product development from the prestigious MIT Sloan School of Management. Her career kicked off at PHT Corporation, which has now become part of Clario, where she significantly contributed to a mobile tool that is crucial to Clario’s operations. Following this, she took on a role at Parexel, where she focused on medical imaging software and worked closely with the eCOA division. Her expertise was further honed during her tenure as Vice President of Product at Cytel, where she played a pivotal role in launching a clinical trials management platform, before moving on to lead product efforts at Oracle.
In her new role at Ledger Run, Pelz is bringing a fresh perspective to the development of its AI-driven, end-to-end financial management platform targeted at clinical trials. "I am thrilled to work alongside Ledger Run's experts who comprehend the distinctive financial workflows in clinical trials and leverage modern technology to unlock efficiencies,” Pelz commented. Her vision revolves around overcoming the fear surrounding AI by showcasing how it can enable professionals to focus on more strategic and human-centered tasks, while allowing technology to manage repetitive processes.
Under Pelz's guidance, Ledger Run aims to enhance its platform, which is designed to streamline financial operations for sponsors and contract research organizations (CROs) while improving the payment experience for trial sites. This strategic initiative comes alongside increased investments in research and development (R&D) aimed at tackling significant challenges in the industry, like the automatic cross-referencing and uploading of invoices, reducing the time taken to process payments and minimizing human error in administrative tasks.
John Chinnici, CEO of Ledger Run, expressed his enthusiasm about Pelz's arrival: "Anne is one of the sharpest product minds in life sciences tech, and we’re thrilled to welcome her to Ledger Run at exactly the right moment. The financial back-office in this industry relies heavily on manual tasks that are prone to errors, and that's where AI can greatly enhance performance. With Anne steering the roadmap, our next-generation platform is set to revolutionize financial processing while improving customer service and driving significant growth."
The impact of Pelz's appointment extends beyond financial efficiency for sponsors and CROs; it also aims to enhance the site experience. By streamlining financial processes, Ledger Run hopes to alleviate the burden on research sites, which often deal with extensive paperwork and limited time to focus on patient care. "Having spent years visiting research sites, I deeply empathize with their challenges – the enormous workload and overwhelming paperwork. At Ledger Run, I want to create a platform that allows sites to concentrate on patients and effectively manage trials rather than on chasing payments," Pelz added.
Pelz’s ambitious vision for Ledger Run will be showcased at the upcoming SCRS' Global Site Solutions Summit in Orlando from October 15-18, where attendees can meet her at booth #207. Additionally, she will be present at the annual OCT New England meeting in Boston, scheduled for October 27-28, at booth #71.
