KDDI Launches the 'Let's Chase Dreams' Project
On September 24, KDDI, headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, has launched an exciting initiative called 'Let's Chase Dreams.' This project aims to support children pursuing their dreams and make soccer players' messages of encouragement accessible to them. Under the brand motto 'Spark Your Journey,' KDDI seeks to foster talent for the future and create a platform where children and soccer stars can unite in their shared challenges.
The project consists of two main components: 'YELL for SAMURAI BLUE' and 'YELL from HEROES.' Through these programs, children can send cheering messages to the current and future SAMURAI BLUE players, while soccer stars provide motivational words to the younger generation, thereby fostering a community of mutual encouragement and support.
A unique feature of the initiative is the creation of the 'YELL Band,' a custom rubber wristband featuring handwritten messages from renowned former soccer players. These bands will be distributed at venues of the Japanese national soccer team's matches. This delivery method ensures that children feel the presence of every inspiring word and gain the motivation to take the next big step in their lives.
The first series of these bands feature messages from prominent athletes like Yūji Nakazawa, Yoshitomo Ōkubo, and Yōichirō Kakitani, all designed specifically to resonate with children. In addition, messages collected from young fans encouraging the national team will also be sent directly to the SAMURAI BLUE squad.
Background of the Initiative
KDDI has been a proud major partner of the Japan Football Association (JFA), supporting various soccer categories, including both the SAMURAI BLUE men's team and the Nadeshiko Japan women's team. The company has actively engaged in programs that cultivate youth independence, such as the 4v4 small-sided soccer initiative, and has partnered with local teams like Kyoto Sanga F.C. to encourage opportunities for children to dare to follow their dreams.
The project's central theme reflects KDDI's commitment to supporting youth through active encouragement, inspiring them to take on specified challenges aimed toward 2030. The onboarding of broader partnerships, including new competitions like the All Japan U-12 and U-15 Championships, shows the company's continued involvement in youth soccer development.
The 'Let's Chase Dreams' project serves as a direct connection between KDDI's mission and the children they aim to inspire—making support not just an abstract concept, but a tangible part of their lives.
Project Execution Details
The first phase will see the release of three original YELL Bands featuring motivational messages designed for children, fostering a sense of inspiration and the courage to chase their dreams. Furthermore, on October 1, former soccer player Yūji Nakazawa is expected to make an appearance at the au booth during the Kirin Cup Soccer 2026 in Yokohama, where fans can engage directly with their heroes.
In Nakazawa's own words, he emphasizes the importance of resilience and faith in oneself, reminding children that even difficult journeys can lead to a brighter future. Similarly, Yoshitomo Ōkubo advises the importance of pursuing dreams persistently, while Yōichirō Kakitani encourages children to embrace experiences, including failures, to build their strength.
Children who visit the au booth will have the chance to express their dreams for the future, along with messages of support to the national team, using tablets that will display their contributions in real time. Participation will also ensure they receive one of the three unique YELL Bands.
Further Developments
Looking ahead, KDDI plans to expand the 'Let's Chase Dreams' project, with subsequent installments featuring messages from current soccer representatives. The initiative will extend to local communities and platforms beyond major soccer events, ensuring that children everywhere can feel a connection to their sporting heroes. KDDI continues to explore new avenues to bring these experiences closer to youth, culminating in a comprehensive approach to nurturing the next generation of soccer talent.
By leveraging their longstanding partnership with the JFA and supporting grassroots events, KDDI positions itself at the forefront of nurturing future leaders in soccer, underscoring their commitment to community involvement and youth development. The elasticity of this project signifies KDDI's dedication to fulfilling its promise and ensuring that every child feels empowered to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles they may face.
