In a commendable move towards sustainability, Odakyu Department Store has introduced a new recycling initiative called "Odakyu Re:value" in collaboration with EcoRing, a company specializing in reuse services. This program encourages local residents to recycle unwanted clothing and fashion accessories while turning their efforts into tangible benefits for the community.
Starting from September 10 until December 9, 2025, a collection box will be set up at the Machida location of Odakyu Department Store. Residents are invited to bring their unwanted items and exchange them for shopping coupons valued at 300 yen, which can be utilized within the store. This initiative serves as a dual-purpose effort: to promote the recycling of clothing and to contribute part of the proceeds to local children’s development programs.
Overview of "Odakyu Re:value"
The "Odakyu Re:value" endeavor aims to operate as a community hub for recycling by gathering clothing and fashion accessories from residents to redistribute them to those in need. The program not only emphasizes resource circulation but also highlights the department store's role in enhancing local sustainability efforts. A portion of the generated revenue will be donated to initiatives supporting the future of children in Machida, fostering an encouraging environment for the younger generation.
Through this initiative, Odakyu Department Store seeks to provide customers with an opportunity to contribute to a sustainable future, while also creating new value as a commercial facility by acting as a recycling hub within the community.
