Nishinoshima Town Invites Companies for Innovative Solutions
Nishinoshima Town, located in Shimane Prefecture, will officially launch a reverse proposal program in July 2026, inviting companies nationwide to present their ideas without needing a strict specification document. This initiative will provide a platform for enterprises to propose solutions to local challenges by giving them access to the region as a testing ground without any travel or accommodation costs. The proposals from selected companies will actively be considered for inclusion in the town's budget for the following fiscal year, paving the way for actual business development following practical demonstrations.
Why Nishinoshima, Now?
Known for its stunning coastal views, including the scenic Kuniga Coast designated as a national landmark, Nishinoshima is abundant in marine resources. However, the town is grappling with critical issues such as a shortage of successors in fisheries and agriculture, population decline due to young residents moving to urban areas, and delays in digital transformation (DX) for both public and private sectors. These challenges represent a microcosm of problems faced by regional municipalities across Japan.
Nishinoshima already offers facilities like the OkiBase Kominka Hotel & Café and the Nishinoshima Telework Office, providing companies a conducive environment for work and relaxation during their stay.
