Introduction to EQUES's QAI Checker
EQUES Inc., an AI startup born from the University of Tokyo’s Matsuo Laboratory, has recently announced an exciting update to their AI document checking system, QAI Checker, specifically designed for pharmaceutical Quality Assurance (QA) tasks. As of August 31, 2026, three new features have been added to improve the efficiency of document review processes significantly. The newly released functionalities include the Evidence Location Marker, Inconsistency Score, and Inconsistency Inspection Agent version.
Background of QAI Checker
In the highly regulated field of pharmaceutical manufacturing, it is imperative that various documents—such as approval documents and manufacturing procedures—are consistent with one another. Previously, the QAI Checker employed a layout analysis mechanism to automatically match relevant paragraphs across documents, identifying discrepancies like numerical differences, omissions in processes, and inconsistencies in terminology on a paragraph basis. However, actual operational processes still required reviewers to determine which identified discrepancies warranted further verification and to understand the rationale behind the flagged inconsistencies. This update is particularly focused on alleviating the review burden post-discrepancy detection.
Overview of New Features
1.
Evidence Location Marker
This feature highlights the sections in the document that contain the basis for determining an inconsistency, allowing users to easily see which entries in the approval document or procedure led to the designation of a discrepancy. As a result, this reduces the time spent tracing original text and enhances the transparency of review records.
2.
Inconsistency Score
For each identified discrepancy, this feature allows AI to provide a score indicating the likelihood of it being a true inconsistency. By assigning priority levels to discrepancies, users can focus on the most critical points first, optimizing their limited review time.
3.
Inconsistency Inspection Agent Version
This upgraded agent-style inspection feature has been redesigned to accommodate a broader range of document formats and inputs. It incorporates insights from internal R&D efforts to improve matching accuracy, expanding applicability to previously challenging cases.
Future Outlook
EQUES remains committed to developing specialized AI products for pharmaceutical QA, exemplified by their QAI series which includes both the QAI Generator for automated document creation and the QAI Checker for meticulous document review. Moving forward, EQUES will continue to refine its functionalities based on real-world usage, striving to provide end-to-end support in document creation and verification processes.
Free Trial Announcement
EQUES is currently offering a two-week free trial of the QAI Checker. Companies facing challenges with document creation and review in their pharmaceutical QA operations are encouraged to reach out for more information.
