Ferrero Group Strengthens Governance with New Leadership Roles Announced

Ferrero Group Strengthens Governance and Leadership

The Ferrero Group, a renowned leader in the sweet-packaged food industry, recently announced significant changes in its governance structure and leadership roles, following a comprehensive review process. This initiative is part of the Group's ongoing strategy to enhance its competitive position and ensure sustainable growth across its core categories.

New Leadership Structure

As of September 1, 2026, the Ferrero Group will introduce two pivotal leadership roles that will report directly to Giovanni Ferrero, the President of Ferrero International S.A. This restructuring was officially approved during the Board of Directors' meeting held on February 11, 2026, marking a crucial step in the organization's evolution.

Alessandro Nervegna, who previously served as the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, is set to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ferrero Core. This position is critical as it focuses on directing the Group's primary product categories, including Confectionery, Biscuits, Bakery, and Better-For-You options. Nervegna brings nearly three decades of experience at Ferrero, where he has held numerous senior leadership roles and has been instrumental in shaping product strategy and innovation.

In expressing his enthusiasm about Nervegna's appointment, Giovanni Ferrero remarked, "I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Alessandro Nervegna as CEO of Ferrero Core. His business insight, strategic mindset, and managerial rigor will ensure that the Ferrero Group maintains its growth trajectory and continues its leadership in the sweet-packaged food sector."

Meanwhile, Lapo Civiletti, the outgoing CEO of the Ferrero Group, will transition into a newly crafted position, serving as President of Ferrero Ice Cream and WK Kellogg Co., in addition to his ongoing responsibilities as Vice President of Ferrero International S.A. Civiletti has been with the company since 2004 and made history in 2017 by becoming the first non-family member to be appointed as CEO.

Reflecting on Civiletti's contributions, Giovanni Ferrero noted, "Mr. Lapo Civiletti has played a crucial role in the successful transformation journey of the Ferrero Group. His leadership has facilitated our ambitious goal of doubling the business size within less than ten years. His commitment has resulted in a robust management team capable of delivering consistent performance, thereby preparing us for an exciting future."

Ferrero's Evolution in the Market

Over the past decade, the Ferrero Group has significantly reframed its business model, successfully transitioning from a primarily confectionery-focused business to a global frontrunner in sweet-packaged foods. This transformation is attributed to the Group’s entrepreneurial spirit, disciplined management, strategic acquisitions, and sustained innovation across various brands and product categories.

Ferrero is home to beloved international brands such as Nutella®, Kinder®, Ferrero Rocher®, and Tic Tac®, along with many local favorites. Established in 1946 in Alba, Italy, the Group now proudly celebrates its 80th anniversary as a family-owned entity, employing around 50,000 individuals and maintaining operations in over 170 countries worldwide.

Ferrero's strategy is firmly centered on a commitment to quality and innovation, especially as it continues to expand its product offerings in segments like ice cream, biscuits, and breakfast cereals, while also prioritizing healthier options. The company is dedicated to fostering sustainable and responsible growth, ensuring that it stays aligned with its core values of excellence and care.

As the Ferrero Group moves forward under this new leadership structure, it remains focused on its long-term vision of delivering meaningful growth while enhancing its presence in emerging markets. The organization is poised for a promising future as it embraces new challenges and opportunities in the ever-evolving sweet-packaged food landscape.
