VIVOTEK's Innovative AI Solutions Enhance Safety in Eastern Taiwan's Hualien
VIVOTEK's Commitment to Community Safety in Hualien, Taiwan
In 2024, the picturesque region of Hualien in Taiwan endured catastrophic earthquakes and typhoons, prompting a critical need for rebuilding and tourism rejuvenation. In response to this crisis, VIVOTEK, a prominent global provider of security solutions, stepped up to the challenge by launching its fourth edition of the "Safety Map" initiative. This event was held in the traditionally rich Dachen New Village, which is home to over 400 families.
As Dachen New Village commemorates the 75th anniversary of the migration of its residents from Zhejiang, China to Taiwan, it faces numerous challenges such as an aging population and environmental risks. The village has made significant strides to promote tourism while addressing these issues, and VIVOTEK's initiative aims to support these efforts.
Combining Technology with Community Needs
VIVOTEK's dedicated team explored different safety concerns in the local area and integrated smart security solutions tailored to the community.
“VIVOTEK is committed to being the most reliable security brand in society. We strive to enhance safety while paving a unique way for corporate sustainability,” stated Alex Liao, President of VIVOTEK. “Our initiative this year allows us to directly benefit over 1,500 residents and ensures tourists can safely explore the area.”
The initiative included various activities aimed at assessing safety issues and providing effective solutions. The team conducted an immersive theatrical experience designed by Lamb Social Innovation Studio that showcased Dachen's history and demonstrated the importance of safety and community engagement.
Creating a Safe Tourism Destination
Through brainstorming sessions with community residents, VIVOTEK aimed to co-create a safer environment, raising safety awareness while fostering optimism for future improvements. Allen Hsieh, VIVOTEK’s spokesperson, expressed hope that their security expertise could assist in enhancing safety while revitalizing the tourism industry in Hualien after recent calamities.
The collaborative effort is significant as it marks a pioneering partnership between Dachen New Village and a corporate entity. The event not only served as a platform for co-creation but also enlightened residents about the evolving safety measures in their community.
Customized AI-Driven Solutions
To ensure the village becomes a premier, secure destination for tourists, VIVOTEK's team put forth multiple AI-enabled security solutions. They focused on improving conditions at landmark sites such as Ruan Bi Zhenjun Temple, ensuring better asset protection and facilitating access for elderly visitors and those with mobility issues. In addition, they worked on mitigating environmental disturbances from stray animals in local parks to enhance the living quality for residents.
In the iconic narrow alleys that tell the stories of Dachen's settlers, the initiative aimed to maintain the area's historical charm while improving navigability for visitors. Technologies for remote monitoring were proposed, allowing families to keep connected with their loved ones those living afar.
The VIVOTEK security team’s comprehensive approach included installing smart lighting systems, facilitating better nighttime safety, and deploying AI cameras for real-time monitoring. Furthermore, shared spaces were created to promote intergenerational interaction, enhancing the community bond that is crucial for its cultural identity.
In line with modern practices, the project utilized advanced generative AI tools from the Taiwan Design Research Institute. This helped in visually presenting proposals swiftly, allowing residents to grasp and implement these solutions effectively, thus making Dachen New Village a more secure and welcoming space for tourists.
As VIVOTEK continues its commitment to community welfare and safety, the local residents of Hualien are hopeful that their initiatives pave the way for a brighter, safer, and more vibrant future for both locals and tourists alike.
