Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon 2026: An Integration of Sports and Art

In an exciting collaboration, Tokyo Tatemono Co., Tokyo Marathon Foundation, and Heralbonny are thrilled to introduce the Tokyo Cheer Back Bibs initiative as part of the upcoming Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon 2026 scheduled for October 18, 2026. This unique action seeks to blend the realms of sports and art, aiming to foster a society rich in diversity and inclusion.

Overview of the Event

The upcoming marathon will take place at the MUFG Stadium (National Stadium), and will gather approximately 18,000 participants, making it the largest half marathon in Japan. Since its inception in 2022, this event has grown to include a wide range of participants, such as general runners, individuals with disabilities, elite athletes, and student teams, all eager to enjoy the thrill of running through Tokyo’s vibrant streets.

The Tokyo Cheer Back action aims to create a positive shift in the perception of disability and generate a new cultural narrative. Partnering with Heralbonny, a creative company known for championing artists with disabilities, the team will produce special bibs adorned with art designed by these talented individuals. Not only will these original bibs provide motivation for runners, but a percentage of the profits will also be allocated towards supporting the artists and organizing athletic classes for aspiring athletes with disabilities.
