Nyjah Huston and Rayssa Leal Triumph at SLS Miami 2025 Skateboarding Championship

Thrilling Victories at SLS Miami 2025

The 2025 SLS Championship tour is officially underway, featuring the best skateboarders from around the globe, and the Miami competition has set the stage for an exhilarating series of events. Brought to life by the innovative partnership with Street League Skateboarding (SLS), sponsored by Monster Energy, the championship tour kicked off with spectacular performances from renowned competitors.

Nyjah Huston: A Record-Breaking Performance

In the Men's Skateboard Street final, Nyjah Huston, a veteran from Laguna Beach, California, did not disappoint. With a career total of 27 wins to his name, Huston secured yet another victory in a nail-biting finish. He opened strong, executing a series of technical tricks that set him apart from the competition and amassed an impressive score early on. Huston's remarkable execution included complex maneuvers, such as a switch frontside lipslide down the rail and a nollie backside kickflip.

As the competition unfolded, Huston made history by becoming the first skateboarder ever to earn 103 scores of nine points or higher—dubbed Nine Club scores—in SLS history. His exceptional talent was highlighted when he claimed a 9.0 score for a nollie backside noseblunt slide on the triangle ledge. The excitement grew as competitors pushed the limits in their final attempts, but Huston maintained a narrow lead against his rivals. In a dramatic turn of events, just moments before the end, he landed a flawless backside nollie kickflip down the big gap, sealing his victory with a score of 36.8 points.

"I am so excited about this win, especially after such a tough last round. It really proves that anything can happen when the energy is right out there," Huston expressed joyfully after his win. His latest achievement confirms that he continues to be a dominant force in the world of skateboarding, showing no signs of slowing down.

Rayssa Leal: Dominating the Women’s Skateboard Street

On the women's side, 17-year-old Rayssa Leal from Brazil marked the beginning of her 2025 SLS Championship tour with a commanding performance. Known for her extraordinary skill set and determination, Leal entered the competition as the reigning three-time SLS Super Crown World Champion, qualifying as the second-place contestant from the knockout rounds.

The finals proved to be a test of resolve as Leal faced pressure after an early stumble in her first run. She quickly recalibrated, delivering an impressive second run that saw her execute a series of stunning tricks, including a frontside nosegrind on the Hubba ledge and a backside tailslide on the rail. Her analytical and technical skating was on full display in the Single Trick section, where she not only led with high scores but pulled off trick after trick flawlessly, culminating in a remarkable 8.6 score for a kickflip backside lipslide. With a total score of 32.1 points, Leal secured her 13th win in an SLS event, further solidifying her status as one of the elite skaters in the sport.

"The contest was exhilarating! Each trick that landed felt incredibly special—it’s just surreal to win again here in Miami," Leal remarked, brimming with enthusiasm.

The 2025 SLS Championship Tour promises a thrilling season with seven competitive events lined up.
