Karen Christiansen Takes the Helm at Acts Retirement-Life Communities as New CEO

In an exciting transition for the senior living industry, Acts Retirement-Life Communities, one of the United States' foremost not-for-profit providers of senior housing, announced the appointment of Karen I. Christiansen as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO), set to take effect on January 1, 2027. This strategic decision comes as the current CEO, Gerald T. Grant, prepares for retirement after an impressive nearly 40-year tenure with the organization.

Mr. Grant’s leadership has significantly contributed to the establishment and growth of Acts, and he will serve as CEO until the end of the year, ensuring a smooth transition for Christiansen as she steps into this pivotal role. Karen Christiansen is no stranger to Acts; she has been with the organization since 1996, occupying various critical leadership positions, including Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, before ascending to the role of President in 2020. Furthermore, her academic credentials include a B.S. in Accounting from Gwynedd Mercy University, an MBA in Finance from Temple University, and participation in an Executive Leadership Program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
