One-Day Culinary Event: Farmers Kitchen in Tokyo

On August 30, Hida City will bring its seasonal vegetables to Tokyo at a special event called "Farmers Kitchen," held in Musashi-Koyama. This unique one-day event aims to connect Hida's dedicated farmers with urban chefs, allowing guests to enjoy delicious meals while listening to stories about the unique cultivation methods and lesser-known secrets of Hida's farms.

Hida City is known for its rich agricultural heritage, where nine local farms cultivate rice and vegetables without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The event at Eme, a wine bistro located just a short walk from Musashi-Koyama station, will feature fresh produce harvested that morning. Attendees will have the chance to taste creations from renowned chefs, including Chef Yasumitsu Muto, Chef Chie Endo, Chef Kazue Baba, Chef Makoto Yamazaki, and patissier Kohei Yamanaka, who will showcase the exceptional flavors of Hida's vegetables.

Through this event, guests will also have the opportunity to engage in conversations with farmers, such as Takafumi Iseki from Iseki Farm and Tomoyuki Sano from Sano Rice, who will share their passion and expertise about their products. This integration of producer and consumer aims to foster a deeper appreciation for Hida’s agricultural benefits.

The event, designed as a casual course dining experience, will feature 11 dishes, all made with organic vegetables, grains, and rice from Hida’s local farmers. It encourages pleasant interactions among attendees, fostering warmth and connections through shared meals.
