Nikon Imaging Japan, a subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, has launched a captivating special content series alongside the release of its first cinema camera, the Nikon ZR. Dubbed the ZR Special Content, this initiative highlights the innovative Z CINEMA product line, a collaboration between Nikon and RED Digital Cinema, showcasing the unique attributes of the Nikon ZR.

The key message of this special content is “I want to see what lies ahead.” A notable feature includes the work “A Place in the Sun,” created by renowned director Akira Sakuma. In an exclusive Behind The Scenes segment, viewers can get insights into the creative process, experiences during filming, and the genuine impressions of the ZR camera. This critical examination allows the audience to connect with the artwork on a deeper level.

Moreover, the series will progressively unveil various video creations by talented creators, ensuring that fans and filmmakers have something to look forward to in the upcoming months.

In addition to the special video content, Nikon is hosting a hands-on event titled “ZR Touch & Try” at Nikon Plaza locations in Tokyo and Osaka. This will offer attendees the chance to test the compact and lightweight Nikon ZR, which boasts a 4.0-inch large monitor, all in a single innovative package. This event also features a variety of cinematic accessories from third-party brands, providing extensive opportunities for both novice and seasoned creators to explore.

Yusuke Okawa (大川 優介)


Yusuke Okawa, based in Kyoto, founded TranSe Inc. in 2018 and launched the imaging brand kyu in 2020. His philosophy centers around cherishing memories and moments, which he encapsulates through his cinematic vlogs and advertisement films. Akira Sakuma (佐久間 鑑)


Hailing from Fukushima, Akira Sakuma has a deep-rooted passion for photography that began in his childhood. His fascination with animation greatly influences his artistic approach, emphasizing the vibrancy of static and dynamic expressions in his cinematic storytelling. Now based in Tokyo, he thrives in creating short films that tell compelling stories across various genres, from music videos to corporate branding films, and community development projects.

Takuma Shogaki (正垣 琢磨)


Born in Kyoto, Takuma Shogaki has undertaken the journey of self-learning photography and videography. Alongside his responsibilities in a family-run e-commerce business, Shogaki promotes cultural heritage and nature through his works shared on social media. Starting in 2024, he is set to engage in video production projects, both domestically and internationally.

Yuka Shogaki (正垣 由佳)


Yuka Shogaki, residing in Uji City, balances her role as a systems development director in an IT company with her passion for photography. During weekends, she captures Japan's nostalgic landscapes and exquisite culinary spots, sharing the local atmosphere and beauty through her imagery.

Nicholas Takeyama


Nicholas Takeyama, a half-Japanese, half-New Zealand native, is an accomplished filmmaker and photographer fluent in both English and Japanese. He specializes in documentary-style productions and actively shares industry knowledge through workshops and tutorials, contributing to the development of upcoming talent in the film sector.
