Volvo Trucks Introduces Pioneering Electric Trucks with Unmatched Ranges

Volvo Trucks: Pioneering Electric Transport

Volvo Trucks is setting a new standard in the electric vehicle industry with the introduction of its latest electric truck models, which are designed for long-haul transport. The company prides itself on being a global leader in the electric segment, having one of the largest line-ups of electric trucks available. On April 14, 2026, Volvo Trucks announced the launch of its advanced electric trucks, featuring improved performance and extended ranges that now reach up to 700 km on a single charge.

Game-Changing Truck: The FH Aero Electric

Among the groundbreaking offerings is the FH Aero Electric, a long-distance electric truck that showcases the company’s innovations. This model boasts an impressive range of up to 700 km, making long-haul electric transport feasible for the first time. The truck's revolutionary design includes a new driveline technology known as the e-axle, which significantly enhances battery capacity. This is further complemented by the truck's compatibility with the new Megawatt Charging System (MCS), allowing for rapid recharging of 20% to 80% in just about 50 minutes—ideal during scheduled driver rest periods in the EU.

Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, points out, "This long-haul electric truck is the best in the industry. It offers an outstanding range in combination with high payload, fast charging, and great riding comfort. Our customers can achieve the same productivity as diesel trucks throughout their entire working day."

Next-Generation Heavy-Duty Models

In addition, Volvo also unveiled the next-generation FH, FM, and FMX Electric trucks, which are tailored for diverse transport applications. These trucks possess a range of up to 470 km, combining versatility and improved drivability. They feature a novel dual-motor layout with a purpose-built gearbox designed to handle various loads and specific transport needs, from urban logistics to major construction tasks. Each truck can be charged from 20% to 80% in approximately 65 minutes.

Roger Alm noted, "We are broadening our offerings and making electric solutions available for an even wider range of transport assignments. Our next-generation models are packed with smart functions, enhancing driver comfort and operational efficiency, paving the way for zero tailpipe emissions in numerous applications."

Seamless Performance

All new models—the Volvo FH, FM, FMX Electric, and the FH Aero Electric—are equipped with optimized gearboxes tailored for electric transmissions. This technology provides smoother acceleration and significantly reduces noise and vibration, enhancing the overall driving experience. In total, these advancements make it simpler and more attractive for businesses to transition from traditional diesel trucks to electric alternatives.

Volvo Trucks adheres to a sustainable future vision, targeting net-zero emissions by 2040. The strategies include leveraging battery electric engines, fuel cell technology, and renewable combustion engines to build a more sustainable transport ecosystem.

Step-wise rollout of these models in various markets is set to commence in 2026, reaffirming Volvo's commitment to driving the electric vehicle revolution and shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

Note: The ranges mentioned are dependent on external conditions such as weather and wind resistance, and also factors like total weight and driving style.
