IKEBUKURO25 Experiment: Revitalizing Ikebukuro's Walkable Spaces
The Ikebukuro Area Platform, led by Sunshine City Corporation's CEO Hidetaka Waki, is set to launch the IKEBUKURO25 social experiment from October 31 to November 3, 2023. This initiative aims to enhance the walking experience in Ikebukuro by establishing a more comfortable urban environment. The experiment will take place on the eastern side of Ikebukuro Station, along Animate Street, and on the western side, along Romance Street.
Goals and Collaborations
The IKEBUKURO25 experiment focuses not only on improving the area for the Ikebukuro Area Platform's members but also aims to collaborate with local merchants, universities, and community members. The project will involve the installation of uniquely designed furniture and guiding signs in the two selected streets. Key measurements will be taken to analyze how the placement and design elements influence pedestrian behavior. The insights gathered from this experiment will contribute to the Ikebukuro Future Vision, aimed at promoting a livable city where everyone feels welcome.
