Reju Launches Its First Research and Development Center in the U.S.

On July 1, 2026, Reju, a pioneering company specializing in the regeneration of textile materials, announced the opening of its first dedicated research and development center situated in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. This marks a significant milestone as it is the company's inaugural specialized research facility in North America. The new laboratory is expected to enhance Reju's scientific capabilities, merging innovative solutions with commercial-scale applications.

This new center will be located within Technip Energies' existing advanced materials and catalysts research complex, providing Reju with an invaluable foundation to expedite the deployment of its recycling technologies. The facility will primarily focus on developing next-generation circular solutions, aiding in the transition from textile waste to reclaimed materials ready for use.

The establishment of the laboratory represents a strategic move, relocating Reju's core research team from IBM's Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California, where the initial depolymerization technology – known as Reju Volcat – was created. This catalytic chemical method enables the efficient recycling of polyester into reusable raw materials.

Gregory Breyta, Reju's Director of Research and Development, expressed enthusiasm about joining such a forward-thinking organization. He stated, “I am thrilled to be part of a team that is advancing technology towards industrialization and supporting the infrastructure necessary for large-scale textile recycling.” The new site will encompass the entire development spectrum, from preliminary feasibility assessments to large-scale production.

Moreover, the Conshohocken Research and Development Center will tackle a wide array of challenges, including the recycling of polyester, creating solutions for mixed fabrics, and innovating new circular chemical pathways. This comprehensive approach will allow for rapid iteration and accelerate Reju’s journey from concept to industrial reality.

A crucial aspect of this initiative is the integration with Technip Energies' established research infrastructure, granting Reju direct access to years of expertise in catalysis, process development, technology integration, and industrial scaling. This collaboration aims to strengthen the company's overarching strategy to develop a circular recycling ecosystem that transforms discarded textiles back into quality products.

The center adds to an already expanding global infrastructure for Reju, which previously includes its first textile center, Regeneration Hub Zero, located in Frankfurt, Germany, as well as future regeneration centers scheduled in Sittard (Netherlands), Lacq (France), and Rochester, New York (U.S.). Together, these facilities are designed to form a replicable global circular infrastructure intended to convert today’s textile waste into tomorrow’s raw materials.
