WellCare of North Carolina Celebrates Community Heroes

On December 12, 2025, WellCare of North Carolina proudly hosted its second annual Community Hero Awards, honoring outstanding organizations throughout the state that are making a significant impact in their communities. The event, led by the WellCare Community Engagement team, focuses on partners dedicated to overcoming barriers, enriching family support, and fostering healthier, stable environments across North Carolina.

Acknowledging Community Impact

Reflecting on the mission of the awards, Troy, CEO and Plan President of WellCare of North Carolina, remarked, "Each of our Community Heroes serves as a steady force for individuals and families across North Carolina. These partners uplift communities with compassion, consistency, and purpose, and we are grateful for their tireless dedication to improving lives."

This year's honorees were chosen based on nominations from partners and team members statewide, representing six distinct Medicaid regions. The selected organizations encompass a diverse range of essential services that bolster health, stability, and community connections. In recognition of their efforts, each awardee received grants aimed at supporting ongoing programs and community outreach initiatives.
