Celebrating 30 Years of Adventure Learning at PAJ
Adventure Japan (PAJ) proudly commemorates its 30th anniversary with the launch of a special website and video, themed "Connecting Time, Expanding Worlds." Since its establishment in 1995, PAJ has passionately focused on three key areas: construction, education, and facility management. Through schools and corporate training, PAJ has pioneered active learning for three decades, leaving a profound impact on the educational landscape.
Over 10,000 participants have engaged in its leader training courses and teacher development programs, fostering a new generation of educators capable of spearheading adventure-based education. With more than 100 facilities constructed nationwide and a successful adventure park network named "PANZA," which attracts approximately 100,000 visitors annually, PAJ has built a strong reputation for its diverse contributions to society.
New Commemorative Site and Video
The anniversary theme, "Connecting Time, Expanding Worlds," aims to reflect on PAJ’s journey and future endeavors. The newly launched special website showcases pivotal visuals, including a unique 30th-anniversary logo, timelines, and heartfelt messages from the founders and executives. By weaving together past achievements, the site encourages visitors to anticipate what's next.
Alongside the website, a commemorative video presents interviews with employees across PAJ's departments. It encapsulates the organization’s core values of "Safety, Challenge, and Learning," illustrating the expansive possibilities that adventure learning offers. The video is designed to convey the essence of PAJ’s 30-year journey and commitment to future challenges in an engaging format.
The Philosophy of Adventure
For PAJ, adventure transcends mere physical challenges; it encompasses personal choices and social connections that enable individuals to step outside their comfort zones and experience the processes of "Safety," "Challenge," and "Learning." By accumulating these experiences, individuals develop trust in others and enhance their collaborative skills. This philosophy has garnered support across educational institutions, corporate training sessions, and facility management, forming the bedrock of PAJ’s operations. To implement these values in the community, PAJ has undertaken initiatives across its three core domains.
The Three Pillars of Business
Since its inception, PAJ has developed its operations through three main pillars: construction, education, and facility management (recreation).
1. Education Sector
PAJ has successfully delivered thousands of training and educational programs (PA programs) in schools and corporations. By utilizing dedicated facilities like ropes courses, PAJ fosters an environment that balances safety with challenge. Additionally, through its leader training courses and teacher development programs, PAJ has nurtured numerous educators and training facilitators.
2. Construction Sector
With over 100 facilities designed and constructed nationwide, PAJ provides continuous support through staff training and regular maintenance checks, ensuring sustainable and secure operations long after the initial setup. Adhering to the standards set by the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT), PAJ guarantees international safety standards in design, construction, and management.
3. Facility Management
PAJ operates adventure parks under the PANZA brand in four locations across Japan (Okinawa, Gifu, Saitama, and Osaka). These parks offer experiences like zip-lining and aerial obstacle courses, allowing everyone to engage in adventure. Each PANZA location provides unique challenges and experiences, ensuring that about 100,000 visitors have memorable adventures each year.
Future Outlook
With three decades of experience as a foundation, PAJ aims to expand opportunities for learning through adventure in varied sectors beyond just education, including corporate settings, local communities, and tourism. The organization envisions a society where everyone's daily life incorporates adventure, fostering growth and connection.
